Heavy Gear Assault Steam release delayed by Valve
By SirKatar, 22 December 2016 at 11:14 pm UTC

I'm also getting login error.
It is a problem for Steam users who got a free key. Logs are showing that it is not passing the logged in steam user properly.

It is being looked into, but main priority is getting the game released on steam.

32-bit Linux distributions are no longer supported by Steam, Steam Web Browser disabled

Quoting: TacoDeBossThis discussion is ridiculous. It's like saying "I bought Half-Life 1 on Steam back in 2003 on my Windows XP rig and now it won't run anymore! This is fraud!"

Get real, people. 32-bit is bad enough on Windows, but on Linux you dive into dependency hell when you dawdle in 32-bit. It's bad. Official Steam support for 32-bit systems should be cancelled. 64-bit is the only way to progress OS and game development in the modern era.

Not to mention there's little excuse. I've seen people in this thread posing the question "What happens to 32-bit users?"

They upgrade. If you're running 32-bit, you're probably not running any games anyway. You can get an quad core amd64 CPU for $75 USD, and a motherboard to go with it for $60 USD. And that's not even on sale.

Really, almost nobody should run 32-bit anymore. 64-bit is affordable and objectively superior.

The ONLY argument for 32-bit support is for legacy software. Most of that can be run on amd64 systems anyway.

I do think it should be an option to download 32-bit distros or some other sort of i386 toolset to compile 32-bit code, but beyond that, 32-bit is useless.

I agree on the fact that support for 32 bits should be dropped, but it would be nice if it was somehow still possible for me to play Half-Life 1 and others on my old crappy laptop. SteamCMD or equivalent should be enough for this purpose.

I have like 2321 Linux games in my Steam Library so I dont know if I will buy something yet but I guess I will spent my 50 euro getting some indie games on sale that I will probably never play.

The good thing is that my 2 year contract with my local mobile company has expire today and I can get around 800 Euro of goodies.
So I have decided to get a Playstation 4 1TB and a Samsung Smart TV 4k 43" just to play DarkSouls 3 , Uncharted and some other games I like on PS4!

My choice for today:
GRID Autosport
Antichamber
PAC-MAN 256 (following earlier suggestion)
Alan Wake (for my Windows partition)
The Town of Light (I also have to boot Windows for this)

Steam Link is pretty cheap now. Grab it if you can. I don't recommend Steam Contoller tho. I had better time with xbox 360 controller even on Linux.

Nope, didn't need to do anything. There was an update though that I downloaded first.

QuoteI can confirm (as I have a key) that the game does run on Linux and will be supported when it's released into Early Access.

It does? Myself and a bunch of others are getting a login error. Did you do anything special to get it working?

Bagged a couple of gifts for nephews, and spent the rest of my PayPal balance on The Talos Principle and Mad Max. That's two off my wishlist, and at least one I already know I'll enjoy. :)

If I'd had just a couple of euros more, I might have gone for Rocket League instead of Talos...

Shame on anyone who said this was a lazy decision of him. He owes nobody anything, and deserves nothing but respect for all the effort he's put into this project over the years.

It is a shame that he's stepping down, and I do hope that someone steps in to keep his work going, be that Roccat themselves, or someone from the community.

Quoting: buenaventuraI hate crafting man, most stupid game idea of recent times.

It's not a recent idea, but it was IMHO better implemented before World of Warcraft came along. Well, maybe you would hated it more, as there were no recipes for crafting xD. You had learn them by your own by combining materials. But then you had a slim chance to craft a really unique legendary item also, which was better then anything you could get from loot.

Quoting: KelsI was initially turned off by the "open PvP" idea, suggesting that you could be attacked at any time no matter what.

Well, I like that idea. Nothing is more boring then PVE. But in a PVP World especially with openPVP rules it is mandatory to play together with others if you want to survive. Otherwise you will have lots of frustrating moments.

My best MMO game experience has been on (Open)PVP-Servers so far. I like games esp. MMOs where players have the freedom to form the world as they like. My only fear is that it will end in a disaster with the current gamer generation. There are way to many idiots around nowadays which have nothing better to do then spoil the fun for all others.

Mayber Rogalia would be the better alternative for you: http://store.steampowered.com/app/528460/ It has PVP & non-PVP-Zones.

EDIT: Found this on the Official Website: The game world is divided into several zones: in peaceful lands players are unable to attack each other and destroy buildings that don’t belong to them...

Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade and Stunt Island are now available for Linux on GOG

Quoting: meggermanWill they play at 1440p fullscreen ? I imagine that they are 4:3 but are they at least fullscreen top to bottom on a 16:9 monitor ?
I don't see why not? Both ScummVM and DOSBox support scaling, but surely your monitor can switch to common lower resolution modes as well.

Yep, well aware of that, I've known about them since they first came on the net :)

Was simply stating my opinion :)

button 8 & 9 ( browser back / forward side buttons ) didn't even work on the generic HID driver when i first plugged in my new Roccat Mouse and that was on Linux Mint, not some weirdy beardy unheard of distro. So i use those buttons a lot, without the config tool owners of some Roccat mice would of been stuck with only left/right click and scroll wheel :/

Thankfully using this tool you can upload to the mouse and now i can have these buttons even on smaller distros that don't have the Roccat tools like SolusOS.

@Stefan. Your software was pretty much what made me choose a Roccat product ^_^

Dammit, they're killing me on Mad Max. I decided to do the good thing and buy this on feral and set a price of $15 when it was on sale on Steam. Then Feral had it on sale for $18! So no buy. And now the base price on steam has dropped to $19.99 for some reason and its heavily discounted too but feral have it 50% off on $29.99 so its $15 there! That's a big price difference!

So now the do something good me is fighting the cheapskate me!

I definately appreciate all the work Stefan did to keep the drivers working. with such a nice and clean interface for Linux. the Roccat Tyon I use stores the settings within the mouse. much like some of the high end Logitech mice. But the Roccat has a native interface on Linux to do this thanks to Stefan.

I do hope Roccat steps up here. I would absolutely love to see not only support, but also their full software products on Linux. They have some really awesome and innovative stuff. It would be nice to have a hardware company that actually supports us.

Thanks for the Antichamber tip! One look and I'm sold.

I purchased Deus Ex Mankind Divided yesterday for my steam Linux account...

I already got Mad Max on a Humble Monthly Bundle and I activate it on my Steam Linux account...
I was about to purchase it as a gift, but in bundlestars is a lot more cheapest...

And... I will buy Rise of the Tomb Raider for my Windows steam account...

Sadly, that game will not be ported to Linux anytime soon... I can wait a few months, but not two more years.

I think it's time to face the fact that all I really want I already have. Few games I have some interest in are still more expensive than what I'm willing to pay to try them out.

So, I'm thinking of spending 5 euros to honor a developer of a classic, even if I don't necessarily plan to play that game. But now is the question which one, Baldur's Gate EE, Metro Redux bundle or Oddworld remake?

He means wiener. You know, the delicious sausage. Also a derogatory term. "Weiner" is a very common misspelling.

So basically if someone wants to get a start making Linux device drivers, with the distinct possibility that they might be offered a job somewhere down the line, they should get involved with Stefan's FOSS project.

Quoting: Luke_NukemSo far this has shown there are three types of people.

The Die-Hard. These gamers won't buy unless there is a proper port or official support.

The Pirate. These gamers don't want to pay for a Windows version, but do want to play the game. They see nothing wrong with pirating it.

The Weiner. They dual-boot and still buy many Windows only games.
