If Valve is shifting focus away from SteamOS (in favor of VR), what makes you think developers and publishers are going to spend the extra effort if Valve is losing interest?

Quoting: Shadowsedge117I learned my lesson about pre-ordering the hard way with Batman: Arkham Knight. Now I just wait until the game officially comes out. I won't believe SF V will come to Linux until I see the little logo in the Steam store...or if I read about the release here first :D.
You realise that game port was officially cancelled right?

Given that the main Windows version was released with a lot of issues and some missing features (like story mode that was supposed to be released with the game), it's not really surprising that the Linux version is late too. I really wouldn't expect it quite some time after the game is actually finished on Windows.

I pre-ordered because I thought they had Linux in the beta even though nothing at all indicated there was a Linux client in the beta. I used the beta key and saw Linux wasn't there and now I can't return it because I technically "used" the beta key. I am an idiot, maybe this time I will learn my lesson.

I doubt they will release Linux any time soon, the game isn't even remotely close to finished. They might even abandon Linux all together because they don't seem to have the resources to complete it on the platforms they sold. In addition, it is selling lower than their expectations.

I think they ruined SF V by releasing a game early with features that only 10% of the users use for a tournament that 1% of the users heard of. I only want to play in Arcade mode and that won't even be in this month's release. Even if it was released on Linux, I wouldn't be playing it this month.

Quoting: gojulYou can add TW Rome 2 and Project CARS
That's what I was looking for! Yep, Project CARS is the last game I ever preordered. I still had a windows partition at the time of ordering, but didn't by the time the game didn't get released (by which I mean Windows version got released).

Personnally I only very seldomly buy preorders. I did so for Cities Skylines and some other Paradox games, but recently that's all.

Beware that if you read this you might realise that there is now very little chance that HL3 ever come out.

I'd have waited for one more day until the Steam Summer Sale starts since there's a chance, albeit tiny, that it'll be released then alongside with a nice discount.

But yeah, general message as usual, never buy something on a promise. First it doesn't count as a Linux sale weakening the platform and second it might never get released..

Pre-ordering a digital product is simply loaning the company money. Sometimes with a worthless gift in return. It still baffles me why anybody would do that.

There were a few rare occasion where I would have considered it, but instead those companies chose to finish the game before asking for money.

A third of Valve now working on VR, still no Linux support
By t3g, 22 June 2016 at 12:50 pm UTC

It's a shame Valve won't at least try to get VR support via the Vive into SteamOS. Windows was already a much better platform for games and this unfortunately makes it even more appealing.

Megapolis, a classic city simulator is now on Steam with Linux support
By Storminator16, 22 June 2016 at 12:34 pm UTC

Quoting: cRaZy-bisCuiTIt actually looks like a browser game or 90s city builder.

Is that a bad thing or good thing? Or is it a matter of opinion which bleeds into the first question?
