GRID Autosport releasing for SteamOS & Linux on December 10th

Won't count as linux sale though?

Like I said in the article, don't buy before a port is out. Always follow that simple rule.

so daft question: if I buy the game but do not activate (ie hardcopy) until its out does that count as a linux version ?

If you mean a "hardcopy" that you purchased in a shop, that will not count for Linux at all. Feral confirmed this before.

Even if it did, that method already happened on Linux and IMO failed. See ID / Loki games. It's annoying to patch the "windows" version just to setup a Linux version.

Bought it, seems to run fine on high settings on my i5 + GTX660. It looks a bit B grade, but otherwise looks fun! Yeah non-standard keyboard controls as people have mentioned, but I plan to play it with a controller anyway.

Definitely worth it at this current discounted price! Nice looking action rpg.

The $6 sale price seems fair enough as a Linux launch price, even if it has mixed reviews, thus I purchased it. The point of "mixed" is "let's give it a shot" or "let's do some digging to what people disliked and liked about it so I can assess it myself".

I can live with rebinding keys. Wouldn't hurt to submit a bug report on the standard layout though.

Quoting: LiamThe initial keyboard setup is terrible, you will have to rebind your keys. Move forward with Z, what? WASD or get out.

Quoting: DevlinI just bought it and tested it 5 minutes, the keyboard and mouse control that comes by default is just painful to use and doesn't work very well, I cannot understand the reasoning behind not using "standard" K&M controls like WASD for movement.

Because it's a french studio and we have AZERTY keyboards here in France. Standard KB+M controls are ZQSD and not WASD.

So now you're getting a taste of your own medicine, when WE always have to rebind every fucking single game to ZQSD again and again (for more than 30 years I play on PC). And I don't talk about those game devs who think how futile is to let people remap keys. :><: :><: :><:

I think I need to relax a bit. ^_^

Actually for what's concerning the keyboard, they did not chose this keyboard layout but the "standard" one you are mentioning.
French keyboard layouts "azerty" are for sure really different from "qwerty" and since the developper is French I bet they develop/debug with French keyboard layouts.
This is not an obvious issue for them I think :
having an azerty keyboard I can tell you that I have the same problem on many Linux games (Insurgency for instance) that does not appear on windows (even sometimes with windows games when it is hard coded to use the key value and not the key code).
So somebody should report a bug to them, it is probably their input library that is not managing keys the same way as the one they use on windows.

Maybe I should buy it, for once I would not need to remap the keys :)

I will try later to play with a gamepad and hope it is a lot better than with K&M because if what I saw is how it works It will be unplayable.

Why don't you just rebind the keys?

I was testing the game to see how it worked. I plan to play it with a gamepad so no reason to invest time rebinding the keys, it was only a minor observation that they should have used a more standard layout because I started a new game and I didn't even know how to move.

Also I have the same issue as MaximB with the mouse camera:

Quoting: MaximBIs the mice buggy for you too?
every time I move it the camera goes to "bird fly" view.
And I must use it to view the road ahead and on the sides.
It just jumps all the time when I move it and tries to fight my command.

So for me K&M is not and option in its current state but it does not matter too much if gamepad works fine.

Basemark announced Basemark GPU Vulkan, a commercial benchmarking software

Quoting: inlinuxdudeWith their base of operations in Finland, origin of one Linus Torvalds, one would think they would put their tools out for Linux just for the sake of that! :)
That never motivated the Helsinki-based Futuremark to port 3DMark to Linux. Not that we would have had much use for Direct3D benchmarks. :P

Quoting: BeamboomGuys... This game has a metascore as low as in the 50s. I strongly suggest you guys read a few (real) reviews before deciding to chip money into this product.

You'll find several to choose from here:

http://www.gamerankings.com/pc/706031-bound-by-flame/articles.html
Also showing a rating of "Mixed" on the store page itself which means that around half of the reviews are a thumbs-down.

Doesn't surprise me, it's why I can recommend it for a bit of button bashing at the current price, but it's very...."meh".

Linux is holding exactly where we thought it would in the Steam Hardware Survey

Quoting: IlyaI'm missing Fallout 4 :-( and Witcher 3 is a painful wait.

I have Fallout 4 and a whopping 2 hours played on it. Meanwhile I have 247 hours in on Ark all under Linux.

We're only about a year in on seeing a massive amount of good titles having been released on Linux. The game engines and dev tools for Linux are improving daily and now we have a stable Linux OS and controller for game devs to target. Before they had to install Ubuntu on a machine and test, now they can just buy a couple Steam Machines for QA.

Game support is only going to improve.

In any case, thank you to the company for the port, it's always welcome to have more companies porting games to Linux.

Maybe we'll get Technomancer? For all its faults, and there are many, I enjoyed Mars: War Logs.

Game crashes on Manjaro Linux with radeonsi driver right after the two first videos. I'm not using the Steam Runtime to run the game, but I have all the 32 bit libs needed by the executables.

My specs:
CPU AMD A10-7850K, 8 GB RAM, GPU AMD Radeon 7850 1 GB, FullHD Monitor. Kernel 4.2.6, 64 bit, Mesa 11.0.6, Xorg 1.17.

I just hope the articles won't turn into speculation news. What about current games, like Valhalla Hills, a good strategy game which was released yesterday similar to Settlers 3 and 4, and no word on it?
