Quoting: EhvisThe DRM free is not actually something that has to do with the GOG release. It was always DRM free via their website (through the Humble store). Which also gives you the option of activating it on Steam as well.I am well aware of this, this is simply a shout out to the GOG release. Like we usually do for GOG.

Quoting: GuestI do have to echo this, it's one reason I've been looking at itch a lot more recently, their client is really slick and it's getting a major update soon too. Still, the itch client won't be at the level of GOG Galaxy when it releases I'm sure.Quoting: wleoncioGOG is really trying to empty everyone's wallet before Steam. I like this competition. :)
Sadly I've actually held off buying some things because of convenience: I prefer DRM-free, but GOG hasn't released Galaxy for GNU/Linux. Real competition might start (for GNU/Linux) if GOG would actually do that.
Quoting: JudasIscariotHey Liam,No worries, I do appreciate that GOG make sure the Linux releases actually work properly, it's a major point in the stores favour.
Thanks for the write-up :) Sorry about the delay with the Linux version but rest assured, we did not want to delay it but we wanted to make sure everyone would get a good and playable game in their hands :)
Here's my own Linux OpenGL vs Vulkan test for Dota 2, not much difference for me

Quoting: liamdaweI didn't even see you asked about an editorial heh, sorry. Not exactly the best fit for a front page article on here I don't think, best left to the forum for now.Quoting: JQuoting: liamdaweSecurity issues with Mint and their terribly security policy, that's the biggest thing. But this article isn't really for discussing that ;)Quoting: STiATWhat kind of compositor does Cinnamon use?...
Any editorial coming up on that?
hence my question on the editorial - it would be good to help to get some non-directly gaming related things to discussed here? (I find it more personal than some of the mass forums)

To be fair, I turned off the compositor for fullscreen applications (in general settings) and the 4K results for Vulkan were even worse.
I don't think Cinnamon is good for testing at all. I will reserve that final judgement for when I get Ubuntu back on though.
Bar your view that cinnamon is a hog any reasons to switch? what desktop will you use?
Any editorial coming up on that?

Quoting: XpanderYep, correct. Not sure why I missed the "dota" on the end must have been a copy paste fail somewhere for me, guide updated.Quoting: liamdaweQuoting: Xpanderi just cant make the benchmark work.. using the script, no errors in terminal, all launches fine but game is just waiting in the main menu and doing nothing.
adding all this crap into launch options - game is waiting in the main menu doing nothing
adding -console or +con_enable 1 - makes the game go to main menu but i cant find the key to bring up the console, tried like all the keys on my keyboard
What exact folder is your demo file in?
What keyboard layout do you have?
ok the benchmark.dem file had to be in
/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/dota 2 beta/game/dota
not in
/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/dota 2 beta/game

Guide updated, as requested (and it does make some sense) the first demo linked to is the current one Phoronix is using.
All code bits and the script code are updated to reflect you need to change the demo file name yourself.
