I'm so totally gonna buy this. Cross-platform support across ALL the platforms (including consoles) should be a pretty good guarantee that there will be players online even if it doesn't turn out to be amongst the most popular Royale games out there.

Just purchase the bundle? If it's not too much for you I think they deserve the support.

This is one game I'll enjoy every nook and cranny on once it's DONE. No way I'll spoil the content prematurely.
"A secret way to get into the bunker if you're male"
I love stuff like that. Minor things that is available only if you're that particular class, gender or race or whatever. Nothing major, just "spice". Especially gender specific things are quite rare.

That clip showed ZERO gameplay, how can anyone be excited about anything based on this...?
What is it? This could be anything from a Bioshock style fps to walking simulator with scare effects? Or a Point and click adventure game? Stealth game? Or a disguised sex game?

Open source game engine 'Godot Engine' to get an impressive third-person shooter demo

Now that's what open-source projects too often lack: Proper demos that showcase their capabilities. OSS software projects can have good backend developers, be built on proper code, but they sorely lack anyone who's able to make something that looks good out of it.
I believe it was Godot who, last time I checked a few years ago, had a "demo" they were proud of that really demonstrated their engine: It was a bunch of animated, un-textured balls that were ment to showcase the physics engine (I think?). Just a bunch of bouncing balls in a box. You had to be a real 3D geek to appreciate and understand the power behind that demonstration.
But this, THIS is different. Obviously it's all due to the assets on display, but such things are important.

Quoting: scaineLooks pretty sweet. Might have to dip into this while I wait for 7 Days to Die Alpha 17!Yeah me too - that patch looks fantastic with all the new content. But I saw somewhere that they probably will not make it in July...
Techland haven't decided if Dying Light 2 will be on Linux

Of the other examples I've not yet played Tomb Raider but I would expect that one to look fantastic. Metro LL was impressive too, I agree with that. But it's a very different game with small set pieces. Same with Deus Ex, generally speaking.
It's the combination of a huge map and the level of detail (details as in number of objects in the scene and their complexity) that impress me. The first Dying Light was impressive too (once they got their frame rate in order), but it looks like they've raised the bar even higher here. And I fully expect this game here to be one of the best looking games on Linux.... If we ever get it. Here's hoping!

Quoting: pete910Rise of the Tombraider, I read it as in general visuals.Mad Max looks good but has nothing like the density of the video we see above, it's less objects and more of nothing. The city we see above? the amount of objects and the foliage and all that...? Much more impressive.
Metro LL, Deus Ex too and going on that vid the original DL.
Mad Max is open world, Looks as good no foliage to compare so.

Quoting: pete910May be YT's compression but cant say it's that impressive tbh.Do we have an open world game on Linux that looks better? Or even as good. Dying Light looked great too, but they've upped the game here.

Like for example, at this point I think I'd pay for just about ANY open world 1st or 3rd person perspective RPG. It had to be a travesty for me not to fork out the cash for it. Had I been a Windows gamer I'd not touch anything with a metascore of less than a 80.
If they need to heavily rewrite their own inhouse engine to make it work, that's an entirely different ballpark of course. But do that even happen, ever?

Quoting: EikeMaybe they're calculating with percentages. If there's 100.000 Windows buyers, you can expect 1000-2000 Linux customers, which would make it worthwhile. That's probably their logic, yeah. And well... It's a rational estimate. I still feel the model is a bit flawed though, especially if we take competition into the equation. Some games might be more unique on our platform, they don't have the same competitors.

Quoting: SalvatosI think your perspective makes more sense at the opposite end of the development process: if you're going to make a game, you might as well build it with cross-compatibility in mind from the start to have a bigger audience for only a little more effort (compared to finding out post-release how many of your components have to be replaced completely, redoing a lot of the dev work and ending up with multiple versions to maintain and support). But aren't all these games built on multiplat engines to begin with? I am of the impression that almost always if we talk about a potential port, it's built on Unity or Unreal. So I'm thinking it can't be that much work to port it anyway.
