Quoting: slaapliedjeUnfortunately it seems SteamVR is currently buggered in Linux. It constantly makes the system freeze for a minute at a time. Even when I finally got Overload to... well load, it didn't show on the HMD. Might be a problem with the Vive Pro though. I will have to hook up my Vive after some sleep to see if that works better.Ugh - sounds like VR is still quite sketchy on Linux... Sad!
Weird thing is, in Debian Buster (fresh install today) it says there is a firmware update. Under Windows 10 and Arch Linux, no update.

Quoting: slaapliedjeGreat - I look forward to hear your impressions!Quoting: BeamboomI hope one of you Vive guys can give us a mini review on how this one works in vr!I apparently did Bad Things™ to my Debian install. Once I get that sorted (should be later today) I'll give it a shot in VR.

It's almost guaranteed not to be Agony [External Link]. Why? Cause it is SLAYED by the reviews. Feral has, as far as I can recall, never ported a game with really bad reviews apart from the first F1 title (F1 2015). Apart from that one title it's been top shelf titles throughout the entire catalogue.
So no way they'll touch a game with a metascore of below 50. Nope.

What Linux games are you looking forward to this year? Here's my top picks

Wasn't there talk of a pretty decent looking first person open world action rpg on the way this year?
We Happy Few - IF it turns out as great as the impressions it gives - will be my definite headliner this year. But I have very high expectations, on the level of Bioshock, so I'm almost prepared to be disappointed.
INSOMNIA: The Ark looks really great, no doubt about it.
I'm also cautiously optimistic about that vampire themed rpg we saw a glimpse of a while back, but that's maybe a lot further into the horizon. I want it so very very bad to be good.

The former Linux dev lead from Feral Interactive has moved to Unity

But yeah, Unity is probably the way forward for us, and an engine that has proven its worth. So this is really good news either way, and losing out on Unity would likely be a bigger catastrophe for us than losing Unreal, all taken into consideration.

Quoting: Joeyboots80Imo this is the best possible move he could've done after leaving Feral.I was about to write the same - with the possible exception of Unreal. They really could use some help there too, to put it mildly.

Phoenix Point is a dark, difficult and exciting strategy game that's very XCOM

Especially in RPGs I find that particularly annoying, or games where there are no logical reason why there shouldn't be.

Quoting: TheSHEEEPI have no doubt there will be female soldiers in the game.I hope you're right but I don't take it as granted as you. There's plenty games out there, both within the strategic and action genres, without female soldiers.
If there are only males currently the reason is no doubt that it isn't a high priority right now in the development cycle.
Seriously, though, imagine the shitstorm that would happen if there were no female soldiers.
No way any dev would allow that to happen.

Hmmm... The fighting looks very static, almost mmorpg-like. And the dialogues too remind me of a rather generic mmo, as do the city...
Don't get me wrong, I love, LOVE the concept/setting, I salute them for not going the fantasy route, and agree that we sorely miss a open world RPG. Plus I totally dig steampunk aestetics. But is this the one we wait for? I'm not sure...

Ok so this is kind of a stupid question I guess, but can you make/recruit female soldiers in this game? I want to make "Charlie's Angels" type teams in these kind of games. Xcom is excellent in these regards :-)

Ugh - this is not a nice piece of news to receive.
Of course they claim the Linux devs are in "superbly capable hands", what else could (would) they say, really.... But they can't be that many dedicated Linux devs over there. And a lead developer always leaves a noteable gap behind them when they leave small teams.
