Bioshock Infinite Early Linux Port Report
18 Mar 2015 at 1:46 am UTC Likes: 1

I think these wrapper versions of games are nice for the current Linux crowd that might not otherwise play the game if it were never ported, but I think it will still ultimately cause problems for Valve. If they hope to move Steam Machines, they'll have to present the public with games that have equal or better performance than Windows, Xbox One and PS4. Otherwise, it'll be a tough sell to make to the average user. The big selling point of PC gaming, even in Valve's own ads, is 1080p 60fps. They need release-day games that demonstrate that.

Feral Interactive Are Behind The Batman: Arkham Knight, GRID Autosport And Company Of Heroes 2 Linux Ports

I'm a bit confused. I keep seeing on this site that Batman: Arkham Knight will be a "day one" release on Linux, but the Steam site says "fall". The released date that I see for other platforms is June 2. So, either the Linux release won't be day one, or they goofed and have already revealed that the game release will be delayed like so many games are these days. :D

H-Craft Championship Free & Open Source Racer New Version

I bought this game years ago, back when there weren't many commercial Linux games. I was never very good at it. Some of the tracks have no rails, so you can just fly right off and fall if you don't turn the corners just right. Anyway, it's nice to know that they've released the source code now that they no longer sell it.

Batman: You'll hunt me. You'll condemn me, set the dogs on me. Because that's what needs to happen. Because sometimes…Windows isn't good enough. Sometimes people deserve more. Sometimes people deserve to have their faith rewarded.

Gordon's Son: Batman? Batman! Why is he running, Dad?

Commissioner Gordon: Because Linux needs him.

Mad Max From Avalanche Studios Confirmed For Linux

As someone already mentioned, Mad Max is being published by WB, whereas Just Cause 3 is published by Square Enix. Even with the same developer, I would imagine that the distributor would have to be on board with it. I'm only imagining because I don't know who owns the copyright or any of the legal specifics. WB seems to be more Linux friendly than Square Enix right now. That could always change though.

Unreal Engine Is Now Free, Including Access To The Source Code

Isn't competition great? Hopefully, this means we will see some more indie UNREAL-based games to rival all of those Unity-based games.

Speculation: Shadow Of Mordor Appears In A Seemingly Linux Focused App Bundle On SteamDB

I'm probably going way out on a limb here, but we might as well ride this hype train as far as it will take us.

Shadow of Mordor uses a modified version of Monolith's Lithtech Jupiter EX engine. It is conceivable that Monolith could port the engine to Linux. After all, it wouldn't be the first time [External Link].

Monolith is a subsidiary of WB, so if the engine were ported, we could possibly see even more games that use the engine ported as well. It might be a long shot, but we're all smoking optimism on this hype train. Right?

While I too would love to see the game come to Linux, the fact that most of those games are on Linux doesn't negate that they are also on other platforms. Also, not all bundles, even from Humble Bundle, include Linux support for every game they feature. Having said all of that, I still hope you're right and I'm wrong.

Hand Of Fate Out Of Early Access

I just played it for an hour. Great game!

It does seem, however, like the game locks at 30 fps on some of the combat scenes, though not all of them. There is no vsync option or anything like that, so it's difficult to tell. I always get 60 fps on the card screens.

I'm getting on average 42 fps on my 750 ti with the highest settings (still lower than I would expect from this though). The cards are quite even in performance so you should be getting around the same.
Does turning down the settings increase performance? I know that sounds like an obvious question, but in some games, it has no noticeable effect.
