NVIDIA have put out a new Linux beta driver with support for 'G-SYNC Compatible monitors'
1 February 2019 at 12:08 am UTC

Hey,

For all the people wondering, what disables gsync, check the file you have here:

$ ls /usr/share/nvidia/nvidia-application-profiles-*-rc
/usr/share/nvidia/nvidia-application-profiles-415.25-rc

And grep gsync from it, to see the nvidia bundled application blacklist

$ grep GSYNC /usr/share/nvidia/nvidia-application-profiles-415.25-rc
          "name" : "No GSYNC/OSD",
              "key"   : "GLGSYNCAllowed",

Basically you dont want those apps to be synced anyway.
But since X11 does not have exclusive fullscreen, you can only enjoy the game (or video: mpv player, youtube from browser) while fullscreen on a single monitor.

Using a macro for switching second display off during gaming, is currently the best way to switch between gsynced game and dual screen.

My display switch script:
Spoiler, click me

# Script to switch second monitor off or back on again
# sterky was here...

# Check if second display (DP-2) is enabled
check=$(nvidia-settings -q dpys | grep DP-2 | grep enabled)

# Switch display config
if [ -z "$check" ]; then
# If disabled - notify and enable second screen
nvidia-settings --assign CurrentMetaMode="DP-4: 2560x1440_165 +0+0, DP-2: 2560x1440_165 +2560+0"
notify-send "Dualscreen - enabled" -t 4000 -i messagebox_info
else
# If enabled - notify and disable second screen
nvidia-settings --assign CurrentMetaMode="DP-4: 2560x1440_165 +0+0"
notify-send "Dualscreen - disabled" -t 4000 -i messagebox_info
fi

And anybody waiting for a "fix", check those links from 2012

NVIDIA to support VESA Adaptive Sync with 'G-SYNC Compatible' branding
7 January 2019 at 4:11 pm UTC

Hey, well that's some nice news.

But for all the dual screen g-sync users... we running linux after all make a macro like i did =)

Running 2x Asus PG279Q and have this script as a macro for my keyboard, almost instant switch from one to two or back to one screen. Just change your resolutions and ports.

# Script to switch second monitor off or back on again
# sterky was here...

# Check if second display (DP-2) is enabled
check=$(nvidia-settings -q dpys | grep DP-2 | grep enabled)

# Switch display config
if [ -z "$check" ]; then
# If disabled - notify and enable second screen
nvidia-settings --assign CurrentMetaMode="DP-4: 2560x1440_165 +0+0, DP-2: 2560x1440_165 +2560+0"
notify-send "Dualscreen - enabled" -t 4000 -i messagebox_info
else
# If enabled - notify and disable second screen
nvidia-settings --assign CurrentMetaMode="DP-4: 2560x1440_165 +0+0"
notify-send "Dualscreen - disabled" -t 4000 -i messagebox_info
fi

Eike
ElvanexI was so annoyed, I didn't even let it run the update. I just powered off, and nuked it from my system, never to touch it again.

Rage quitting the OS. :-D

If the OS takes me that far... i will done it at... lets see when did my windows 8 reboot loop (to be honest it was a dual boot system for about 5 years before that)

Thx @feral pefect game, pefect port xD
Runs fine on AMD-FX8320 @4.6 + 1070, massive fps @low and medium (to get maximum of monitor) also runs nice at ultra, just less fps, no stutter, at all

Also bought the game from feral store to give max support

Really nice port from feral, thanks for that.

Have been playing for about 30mins, total minimum fps i saw was 50, just for a second at high speed car driving, all settings mostly maxed out, except bloom and motion blur.
Other than that, running @1440p resolution 60-130fps fully maxed, most of the time 80-110.

Also very nice to see all 8 cores of my amd cpu doing some work.
Some pics of whats going on:

CPU Usage (game minimized) (conky)
GPU Usage graphs
Psensors graphs for system

System @profile, cpu @4.6Ghz.

fabry92How can i hold my 144 hz in xconfig on nVidia strings? Every reboot i need to set it T_T

I'm using this to get my screen @165hz:
Screen section:
Option "metamodes" "DP-0: 2560x1440_165 +0+0"

(DP-0 is displayport 0 for my gpu)

League Of Legends mostly, also waiting for Tomb Raider patches, played for 6 hours at least, but don't really enjoy those 7 fps places

SirBubblesAnyone here getting rubbish performance whilst using an AMD cpu? I have an 8320 and am getting terrible performance at a point fairly early in the game. Lots of people, fire effects and outdoor stuff. I got 13 fps in one area. I have an nvidia 970 and 16 gigs of ram and have high texture quality, 1440x900 resolution and most everything else on normal.

I think this might be a common theme with Feral ports. Shadow Of Mordor also has poor performance on my system, also XCOM 2.

Yeah same here, with well, pretty much same spec's, AMD FX-8320, GTX 970, 16GB ram @1866MHz, playing at 2560x1440. Everyting ultra, except antialiasing. Rain + fire and running around = 13 fps =), at the same time cpu load not much and gpu mostly not too busy, some 99% but at those times the fps was 50+, gpu mem max 59% so no problem there. Heres a graph of 1h playing (memory is actually 4GB used not 1% like psensors reports) LINK
