Free first-person stealth game 'The Dark Mod' has a major new release

Wow! Nice, downloading right now Still remember when it was a Doom 3 mod, it was really cool. Now as it's standalone, maybe it got even cooler. Soon I will find out

The latest Steam Client update is quite a big one pulling in lots from previous beta versions

Nice! I'm happy that they did this scaling thing for users with HighDPI screens! That is a huge improvement. In next update would love to see fractional scaling (non-interger values) like 1.5 and so on that would be perfect! As now I'm using 28" 4K UHD Screen and I scale everything to 150% (1.5 ratio).

And even after they did window-resizing improvements, it's still quite buggy for me... Maybe because I use KDE Plasma 5 with KWin, when I resize windows I often get unexpected results.

Anyway I'm super happy to see Steam Client being improved!

Feral Interactive are teasing another Linux port, so that's two titles not yet announced

Oh, can't wait! Would be so cool if that would be some of Bethesda games. DOOM (2016) or Quake Champions But I think that will not happen, since Bethesda policy is not so friendly to non Windows gamers... ID Software was such a cool company before they got acquired...

SteamOS updated & Steam Client Beta adds support for 2x scaling for those with 4K monitors and more

Wow! Such a great update! Solved two most annoying problems for me! Now I can enjoy Steam client with normal UI scaling on my 4K UHD screen. Before it was really painful to use it without scaling, as UI items was very tiny. I was using Web based Chat as Steam clients Chat was making my eyes sore. And now KDE Plasma does not cancel session ending! That was also annoying, since I had to quit Steam before ending KDE Plasma session on every shutdown and reboot... Great! First month of 2018 for Steam Linux client seems very good! I hope the rest of the year will be good too

NVIDIA has confirmed a driver bug resulting in a loss of performance on Linux
10 December 2017 at 2:08 am UTC

saildataI had this issue for several months this fall starting with 384.59, and it was fixed for me in 387.22. Currently I'm on 387.34. I tried several times to report it to NVIDIA, but their website had all sorts of issues with me logging in.

I was able to reproduce the issue when the nvidia-uvm module was loaded, which was when anything "cuda" related was done. I like to watch YT or Twitch through MPV and use hardware acceleration to do so, so any time I used mpv I would get another error message in the system log. I dug through the g00gs search results along with various forums and docs to try and find out if there was something wrong with the card or if I should be concerned.

Sorry you have this, but I'm glad that I'm not the only one who ever saw it What driver version are you using?

I am using now nvidia 384.98 version on Manjaro Linux testing branch. Still have this issue with Xid 31, most of times when launching Chromium browser. I hope this will get fixed soon, got tired of killing kwin_x11 and relaunching it...

Great! Also NVIDIA could fix Xid 31 which happens way too often...

Xid 31 is GPU memory page fault (driver, app issue)

To me happens every single day more than few times!

And they could improve nvidia-smi, as of now I see only one GPU details and my system has two GPUs...

Looks like GOG Galaxy won't come to Linux any time soon, as it's "not a priority"

adomasBTW GOG.com is now selling these "Pinata" things, where you get a random game. I bought 4 Pinatas and guess what: all games are Windows-only. Such a fail. Somehow did not expect that.
I wrote a message to their support asking for a platform dependent selection of pinata games. At first they told me to get a refund but after being persistent they promised me to forward my mail to their development team. Lets see...

That's interesting. I wrote the support and they refunded money to GOG Wallet. I wonder if development team will do something about this. I might buy those Pinatas again if I'm sure I will get Linux games.

Somehow this post made me really sad. I was expecting GOG Galaxy for Linux any time soon (as they wrote).

GOG Connect adds more games, plus a huge summer sale now on

I also think that GOG Connect is a great decision made by GOG. Today I added +3 games to my GOG account via GOG Connect. Very happy. Also pretty good Summer Sale deals on GOG right now. Just one thing... Would be really cool to get a alpha/beta of GOG Galaxy for Linux. I'm waiting for this pretty long time now and still there is no info about it.
