I have to agree that Doom3 and Quake4 was a bit ahead of their times.
After playing Mass Effect (I think it was 2) I played Doom3 for the first time, and not only had a blast, but had to say that it looked no worse, and had early versions of all the same gameplay elements.
I really liked the atmosphere of Doom3 in particular.

I have to agree cRaZy-bisCuiT, I'm using Linux as my daily driver because I prefer it, and I severely dislike the idiotic politics around windows, and I can't bring myself to trust any large corporation (they have repeatedly shown they cannot be trusted) so will not go back to windows.
I don't care if there is some fancy new game that people rage about, I only care that I have good games to play every now and then, which I have ample of on Linux.
Heck, I'm gaming on a 5.5 year old laptop with AMD graphics, and strangely all the games I try work fine on it.

So I have a AMD Firepro M4000 in my motebook, which is pretty much identical to the AMD Radeon 7770M.
Neither of those are in the database.

regarding how it runs on radeonsi, I had some odd difficulties getting the game to load. I then updated to the latest git again, and updated from 4.8.7 to 4.8.11 kernel.
Turns out 4.8.11 kernel is borked, and could not get anything to work, (including other games which used to work fine)
I then tried downgrading the kernel again, and everything started working again.
For performance, it is reasonably smooth considering my GPU. I can run it at 1600x900 on medium (I think they call it good?) on my mobile 7700.
The game isn't without its bugs, such as when I start the game it is in english, and then a few minutes later everything is in german again... So I can't quite get into the game as I have no idea what is going on :-(

I run my Linux games on a "workstation" laptop, as I tend to have to run lots of VMs etc. Note that a really large portion of developers run Linux. at my company I'd say it is 50-60% of the developers are on Linux.
Due to how many debuggers and stuff I run, I have run out of memory often with 8GB, so upgraded to 16GB. This was about 4 years ago now. Still using the same system all this time. (the only real issue is the GPU could probably be upgraded)

As a Laptop user stuck with 1G of VRAM on a still-relatively-beefy 7770M, I do notice stutters even with compositing when I have a 2'nd external 4K monitor and tens of apps open in virtual screens. it will be smooth, then stall for 1/4s even.
Exciting times to be an open-source AMD user :-)

Played through shadow warriors, life is strange, tomb raider and busy with victor vran, all on open source radeonsi driver on a 7770M. No glitches or crashing, shadow warrior & tomb raider had to run on medium to get good enough performance.
Got shadow of mordor, but performance is a bit lacking (20fps at places, too slow fir that game). Will wait for some more performance optimizations, the mesa amd devs are pushing performance updates weekly at this stage! Exciting times for mesa!

Game was running perfectly for me before on AMD Radeon 7770M using mesa 12. I could run it on all settings max easily. Hope it doesn't now give you a warning like so many other feral ports (even though they often work just fine)
The Dwarves trailer has me cautiously excited for this fantasy role-playing game

Heavy metal is definitely the music for Dwarves, I mean, they dress in metal, and irony is what happens in a smithy...
Very heavy and metallic if you ask me :-D
