Aspyr Media Are Teasing A New Game, They Promise Many Penguin Smiles

Aspyr Media have been extremely busy it seems, as they have just sent off code to bring Civilization Beyond Earth up to the same patch level as Windows. The bigger news is they have been teasing a new port.

I know what it is (I’m allowed to say that, trust me I checked first!), and no amount of drowning me in rum or fattening me up with cake is going to make me break. You will love it though, and Aspyr’s commitment to our platform is something truly awesome.

There’s this particular post on reddit that will get a lot of Linux gamers wondering, and it’s where this teaser comes from:
Aspyr_BlairAgreed...been a little quiet lately. Mostly because its all hands on deck for one game...and I mean ALL HANDS.
Of course I will not be giving it away (wild speculation is too much fun), but lets just say its a game that has been asked for literally thousands of times. It's also personally one of my favorite games of all time.
I can promise there will be many penguin smiles out there.

I’ve requested Samsai to do a special live stream when it is released, so we can bask in his glory. Or watch his failure, either’s good.

Begin the guessing game, and join me in riding the hype train. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

@Aspyr_Blair

I know this is a bit off topic, but I'm curious about something. Have you guys (or anybody else in this business) ever had success requesting to port Japanese made games? Or is there a cultural/language barrier behind such companies to make this near impossible in the future?

Quoting: berillionsThe game is not GTAV and Skyrim, Aspyr_Blair said that on Reddit :

While I am a BIG fan of both games, I should say its not GTA V, and its not Skyrim.
I should also say that both games are ALWAYS on our chase list.

Mmmmmmmm..... the ALL HANDS capitalized hint resembles something like it needs a steering wheel....

Quoting: liamdaweI love how excited everyone gets about Aspyr games :D

While E.On stuff doesn't seem to fully cut it for me, I expect every Feral and Aspyr port to just work. Whatever they are porting, I would judge by the game if I want to buy it and wouldn't have to wait for port reports.

I am actually a bit curious about this as well...

I've posted in a number of "Linux-port?"-threads for japanese games (Valkyria Chronicles, Deadly Premonition, Resident Evil, Trails in the Sky, etc. etc.) but I can't recall if I have ever seen some kind of response/reply.

No, they already said this year they have no plans for any ports on any platform.
yeah i know, it's sad, i'm still playing it in Wine
because dota and strife just aren't a replacement, Dota2 is too much hardcore-complex and hard to get into
and Strife is too noob-friendly, too casual, league strikes the balance really well in my oppinion

And I hate you because you know that title already and I don't.

Dota isn' t that complex, just defend the ancient (HQ) at all cost! There are also ingame tutorials, bot matches and a good ranking system.

BTT: Once again I'm going with Tomb Raider. The chances aren't high as I think "all hands" has to be a hint and I can't see any connection.

My Monopoly money is also on Tomb Raider.

BTW, for those trying to read on that "ALL HANDS" part, it doesn't seem to be a clue, and I quote from the same Reddit thread:

...is "ALL HANDS" meant to be a hint? :)
Quote[–]Aspyr_Blair 23 points 1 day ago
Haha no...merely a descriptor of our weekly bug triage meetings. We have a big conference room, but its standing room only in there because we have so many folks working on this thing.

Of course, they could just be trying to lose us.
