Daedalic Entertainment Announces Publishing Deal With Mimimi Productions

Posted by , | Views: 4,587
Today the acclaimed German developer and publisher announced that they will be publishing the next game from Mimimi Productions, the developer of the award-winning 3D platformer The Last Tinker™: City of Colors. The new game will be a real-time tactical stealth game and is slated for release in 2016.

QuoteThe new project from Mimimi Productions and Daedalic Entertainment will be a real-time tactical stealth game and is scheduled to be published in 2016 for the Xbox One™, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft®, the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, Windows PC, Mac and Linux.

Apart from the genre and the release platforms, little is known about game, but founder and CEO of Daedalic Entertainment, Carsten Fichtelmann, sure sounds enthusiastic about it:

QuoteThe overall concept and quality of their new project completely won us over, and the game will be an important addition to our catalogue, as well as it broadening the core gaming genre. The acknowledgement of such a hardworking studio and such a promising project are even more important to us, as these days, German publishers’ willingness to invest in new concepts seems to be close to zero. We deliberately count on teams that share our own way of thinking and working.

I am too, since The Last Tinker was a game I enjoyed when I played it shortly after release; as did Liam when he covered it in an article. The Last Tinker looks and plays much like traditional 3D platformers, but long-time fans of the genre should be aware that it's not a completely traditional 3D platformer like the classics Jak and Daxter and Banjo Kazooie which it was inspired by. It does have elements of collecting, action and puzzle solving; however the platforming is more "on rails" in that it doesn't allow completely free jumps, but instead automates jumps onto designated platforms.

The announcement goes on to promise that we'll be hearing more about the new game soon, and we'll be sure to follow up when more details are known.

I think a lot of people missed out on that one. It's one I consider a "hidden gem" and curate in my group on Steam.
