Out of the 15 they now have, 7 have "official" Linux support:
- FATAL FURY SPECIAL
- SAMURAI SHODOWN 2
- SAMURAI SHODOWN V
- THE KING OF FIGHTERS 2000
- THE KING OF FIGHTERS 2002 CLASSIC
- BLAZING STAR
- KING OF THE MONSTERS
All the others, like the Metal Slug series weirdly have unsupported Linux versions included as "bonus" content.

Worth noting, there was a Humble Bundle that had these and more back in 2015, so it's likely Humble had some sort of exclusive deal on them for a while. Hopefully they will add more in future!

I don't mine picking these up, especially when they were available via the 2 instances they were given out via Humble Bundle.
I would prefer if companies sold the ROMS of their games from yesteryear to the public.
I don't have the GOG versions but the HB versions came with a wrapper that took care of the controller settings for you, you also had save states setup via gamepad presses.
You can do that with MAME but MAME still has issues with defined controllers. If you removed a controller or connected it to another USB port - you may have to reconfigure on the fly. There is a way to lock it down but it requires a lot of setup.
Many people complained about the DOTEMU port but I've put these games on some really low tier machines and they ran awesomely.
If they support Linux, I'll support them is how I go about it.

That guides seems really complicated. I have the HB versions and I just dump the neogeo.zip and the game.zips and they work as is. Were GOG versions altered?
Can you please upload a screenshot of what's inside the neogeo.zip in the HB version? If they're altered I wouldn't as I don't own the HB version.

I can only speak for the HB versions but these were just the ROMS with a MAME wrapper.
Pros of the HB version
- Gamepad Controllers were built in; No need to configure
- Save/Load States were built into the menu system and accessible via gamepad
- These were the exact arcade versions not the watered down console ports
- You can extract the 2 files needed to work with MAME, if you wanted to
Cons
- Unable to configure gamepad settings unless you go into the .ini files
- Logos upon start up

That looks dope!!!! but I already have the Neo Geo gamepads and fighting sticks for the computer. I lost my passion for mobile gaming since I ride my bike to work. When I was a mass commuter I use to play my NeoGeo Pocket Color daily!

King of the Monsters is fun. I wish they'd bring Wind Jammers to Windows/Mac/Linux too.

Well yes as long a you own the original cartridges you are allowed to download the roms for free, and to be honest its really really unlikely even in America that someone is going to kick your door down for downloading a game that came out in 1992.Especially because its a dead system that you cannot buy new anymore.
