Stellaris: Utopia, the first major expansion is now up for pre-order

While I usually don't like pre-orders, Paradox is certainly a developer worthy of it. Since we know this will have no problems with Linux support. Stellaris: Utopia [Official Site] is a massive expansion too, I can't wait!

Note: You can only pre-order it from Paradox directly.

It will release in full on April 6th, so not long to wait! For what it offers, £14.99 seems like a pretty reasonable price to me, any higher and I think it would have been too much.

New features:
  • Megastructures: Build wondrous structures in your systems including Dyson Spheres and ring worlds, bringing both prestige and major advantages to your race.
  • Habitat Stations: Build “tall” and establish space stations that will house more population, serving the role of planets in a small and confined empire.
  • Ascension Perks: Collect Unity points and adopt Traditions to unlock Ascension Perks that allow you to customize your empire in unique ways. Follow one of the three Ascension Paths and achieve Biological Mastery, give up your biological forms in a Synthetic Evolution, or unlock the full psionic potential of your species through Transcendance.
  • Indoctrination: Influence primitive civilizations and make them adopt your ethics through the use of observation stations, preparing them for enlightenment or annexation.
  • Advanced Slavery: Maximize the benefits of slavery by choosing specific roles for enthralled species. Have them serve other Pops as Domestic Servants, fight for your empire as Battle Thralls, or keep them as Livestock to feed your people.
  • Advanced Governments: Adopt unique civics and authorities for your government. Play as a Fanatic Purifier and shun all diplomacy, become a Hive Mind to avoid political strife or create a multi-species empire born of Syncretic Evolution.

May be worth pointing out that Utopia is currently only available for pre-order via Paradox's own store, and not Steam.
I was initially confused when checking on Steam after reading this article, but on the plus side it reminded me to buy the expansion from Paradox directly rather than giving Valve their cut ;)

Well, the only link in the article is to the official store ;), but I will clarify it to be clear.

Did stellaris get the ai fixed? And the other problems? Is it worth buying now?

Even now with several patch, i feel the game is quickly empty. I played a few games, only one to "completion", and then i thought "why should i play again ?". Maybe this first expansion will change my mind.

I love this game. It has SOOOO much potential. I just hope it will follow the path of Crusader Kings 2. If it does, it will be one of my most favourite strategy games ever.

Hive minds? Synth ascension? Dyson Spheres? Psionics? Take my money *now*, Paradox.

Pre-ordering a DLC? No incentives to lure me in? Paradox is getting cheekier than usual :P.

Other than that I'm silently hoping for a -50% sale on the base game so I can snatch it along with the expansion as I had my eye on it for a while.

No pre-order incentive? That is weird. What is the benefit instead of just waiting until next week?

Me too—I couldn't afford it when it came out despite having had my eye on it for a while, but having just started a new job this month I'm hoping to spend my first paycheck on Stellaris + expansions. :)

You need to be more specific or read the patch notes of the existing and that new patch yourself.

Stellaris was worth buying from the start in my opinion, I did and enjoy it a lot still.
There have been a lot of improvement in the patches already released. And the DLCs are not really needed, the base games get most of the changes. I got them anyway to support the ongoing development of the game

I will get the new DLC at release, dont see a reason to preorder it like others already said
