Wine client mismatch
Pangaea commented on 20 February 2020 at 12:39 am UTC

Never gotten this error before. What does it mean?

Command run: wine AutoWikiBrowser.exe

Error message:
wine client error:0: version mismatch 568/595.
Your wineserver binary was not upgraded correctly,
or you have an older one somewhere in your PATH.
Or maybe the wrong wineserver is still running?

All I can think of it that there was recently an upgrade from Wine 5.1 to 5.2 (I'm using winehq-devel). No idea how to solve it, though.

Usually it happens to me when Wine is upgraded, but this error goes away on the next run.

This happens when your old wine processes are running and you want to start a new one that has different version

Thanks. Didn't know about that potential issue.

Not 100% sure now after-the-fact, but it's possible Witcher 3 was running in the background in a separate workspace, which could explain the difference in version if the computer was on for a couple of days (I don't always shut down for the day).

Thankfully I managed to get it running in the end, after some trial and error. Doubtful anybody else here use that particular program, but I wrote a short piece about how I got it running here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:AutoWikiBrowser/Mono_and_Wine

Since we have a thread on a related issue here already, do anybody happen to know what is needed to get around the below issue? It's a program called WolvenKit, which is for looking at Witcher 3 game resources (and mod making, I think). It's available here: https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/3161

When trying to run it in a 32-bit prefix, where I'm able to run the .NET dependent AutoWikiBrowser from, I get the following errors (and the program doesn't get far enough to attempt to launch properly):
