I didn't have NES growing up, but instead spent my time with the ZX Spectrum and later the Amiga, but I went back to check out the catalogue years later and did quite like the atmosphere and gameplay of Metroid, so that'll be my pick (and I see that it's also supported by 3dSen).

It's an impressive list of changes. In the official patch notes, items with a star next to them denote changes based on player feedback, so the developers are definitely listening.

Man, I'm trying so hard to make myself like Plasma more than GNOME, but there are so many stupid little nitpicks that just keep getting in the way. Like, how does one enable automatic login? You'd think it's somewhere in the "Users" part of settings, but no, it's in Colors&Themes -> SDDM -> Behaviour. Or add a keyboard layout, you have to go to Keyboard, enable manual layout configuration, add English to the list first, otherwise you're screwed, then add the secondary language, and keep in mind that you have to use Meta+Alt+K to switch between them, not Windows+Space, like everybody else does. Thankfully, you can still change the combination, but do you really need to have to do it manually? Not to mention that a lot of software from GNOME Suite is just plain better for my needs than the KDE equivalents. And tons of third party stuff I use is built with GNOME UI in mind, but that's not really KDE's fault.

I managed to fix the issue with the Windows icon. Here's what I had to do:
1) Go to Store Page admin for the demo
2) Under "Supported Platforms", untick "Automatically inherit from parent" and instead tick "Enter specific system requirements"
3) Tick Linux (and macOS if applicable), but you don't actually need to fill in the requirements
4) Tick "Automatically inherit from parent" again
5) Save
6) Publish

i am fine with telemetry as long as i can see what is being reported and control what gets sent, which fits how Plasma has done it as i can go to the audit folder to find what is sent and they have a toggle to what is being sent(though need to better define the difference between usage statistics and basic usage statistics)

I am still on a "wait and see" stance about Wayland. I understand it "mostly" works these days, but the remaining quirks people are reporting are still enough to make me hesitate.
About telemetry, I have no issues with it, as long as it's opt-in (not opt-out), being made clear what data is being transmitted, no personal data is collected, and it is assured that not one bit of data will ever be used for any purposes other than improving the software. Being a developer myself I do understand the value of such information, and not every time software is "phoning home", it's for evil purposes.

This article has reminded that I turned user-feedback off when I last installed, thinking that I'd turn it on later. And I forgot to do so! It's now on, at one setting lower than maximum. Nice wee app, integrated into Settings.

Ugh. Telemetry driven development is the bane of my computing life. It insidiously causes some devs to use it as a substitute for actual thinking instead of as a support.I doubt that's the case here. And in open-source, it's absolutely vital, since you don't get to interact with your user-base otherwise, except through forums/discord, which carries an enormous bias (the only people who interact this way will be technically-focused anyway, while your "normal" goes unnoticed, which is especially likely now that the SteamDeck has jumped into so many non-techie lives).

This is a *really* cool idea for an NES emulator. Seems like a great way to add something new to a beloved art style.

Kirby's Adventure
The pixel art was so gorgeous, the animations smooth, and the different powers cool! My brother and I would pass the controller to the other when we died. After finally beating it for the first time (the "planet" boss near the end gave us so much trouble due to the time limit), we played through it almost every weekend. Good times!

Sorry, Liam. I'm going to disqualify myself. By the time that the NES rolled out, I was already deeply into the PC gaming scene, first on the C64/128, then on the Amiga and eventually (reluctantly, due to the death of the far superior Amiga) on DOS. I barely even looked at consoles until SNES and Genesis (Mega Drive) came out. Even then, I found the closed ecosystems limiting and boring compared to personal computers.

Final Fantasy 1. It's rough, it's broken, but it also has mystery and adventure to a degree that we haven't seen again until maybe Demon/Dark Souls? You really feel like you're exploring and learning about the world in FF1, you definitely feel like there's more to it than there actually is, and the game pulls off its freeroam approach remarkably well for the time. I never felt completely lost, the limited guidance it provided was just right, and the simple plot hit the sweet spot it needed to hit. I had motivation, but I wasn't drowning in stuff to do for arbitrary reasons (looking at your, Dragon Quest), and could instead enjoy discovering that this one bit of land is a fantastic, if also slightly deadly, spot to (over)grind. Lovely spritework.
These days, I'd probably want my classes to actually work, though, so I'd say romhacks are recommended for anyone who wants to dive in ;)

Again, this is why telemetry is useful, it can show developers where they need to actually focus, it's not the bad word many seem to think it is.

Well, I guess there is a reason, why the 'junk-store' plugin is called 'junk-store'.
But seriously as long as the payment is not mandatory, I see no harm done here.
Humble does this too for example.

Keeping X11 compatibility, especially in such a large DE as KDE, is really important.
I get the point of "we have to move forward", but I'm still hit with very casual things that are not working that great with KDE on wayland that are not an issue in X11. Such issues include proper clipboard integration (I know there's ongoing work regarding that, in particular with xdg-portal), some apps having issue with their contextual menu showing nowhere near where they should, some screen-specific application being unable to know/settle on a specific screen, etc.
I'll keep checking on the regular; it's trivial to move from one to another after all, no configuration required. But it remains important to keep that option as long as very common issue can still show up.

I wanted to give this a try, but no thanks.
It won't run on my Linux Desktop and neither on the Legion Go S (SteamOS version).
First run on SteamOS gave me an error while loading, because some server was not reachable.
Second time it was finally loading, but the intro is like 7fps, lol.
