Steam now has a form of platform-specific wishlisting, to help developers see demand

Quoting: g000hThere is one BIG problem with this though. Not all Linux gamers are going to want to set their Account Preferences to only show Linux/SteamOS games in Search Results. I like to see all the games on Steam, and not just the Linux ones - even though I might favour the purchase of Linux games 99% of the time, there will be a tiny bit of interest in games available on other platforms.

So, the whole point of "this will show how keen Linux gamers are on our game" is completely lost. It only shows the really hardcore Linux players, who have deliberately made this setting active.

Personally I hope the developers realise how flawed this statistic actually is!!!

It does not do that. It only means if you select your preference and wishlist a game, you will show up in their stats as a wishlister who uses linux. Otherwise windows games still show up when you open your library or the store.

I for one would appreciate another option that filtered out all non-linux games if set, so i don't have to do it every time i'm browsing on the store.

(Or is it maybe only my account being broken, i have had this setting ticked for a while, but most times i enter the shop i have to filter out windows only games)

I keep editing this post, but this seems a way better solution than some random devs inviting some people on random forums (such as this or twittwer) to some random steam discussion to ask for linux support. (And you know the haterz will appear on every such discussion.)

As for discovering games, windows games and AAA titles are ubiquitous so you will most likely know about them before any linux release even if you do not search for them, as 99% of gaming/popular computing sites/content is windows only.

What are you playing this weekend?

Quoting: throghPlease not another proprietary package with protected firmware-blobs. Make it really free like the older integrated chipsets! Everything else is really more of the same paradigm and not needed at all from my point of view - not looking after people trying to make just unixoid copy of "Windows" out of their installed distribution.

Sorry, I was a bit off topic. The PSP is an ARM processor built into the new AMD processors, that has total control of your hardware. That said, while it's nice that AMD works on their opened quality drivers, their firmware was/is still a binary blob, which is required to take full advantage of your cpu or gpu. But at least you had a choice with it.

Again, I think i was a bit off topic, but i don't think the software/hardware industry and the laws surrounding it move in the direction of freedom.

Quoting: Perkeleen_VittupääMaybe an all new type of era is dawning upon us and proprietary drivers are going away... Freedom seems to be the direction on all sectors now. Which is amazing and interesting! Even natural?

With a PSP sitting in on every new x86 processor, i think there is even less freedom now. It is the ultimate blob.
With the old blobs you were at least able to not to include them in your system if you were ok with performance loss. With the PSP, you can't even boot/run without it.

I don't get why i should be excited about this, seems like all these flatpaks/whatever other name this runs on increase complexity and solve nothing, if i wanted paranoid level security i believe cubes os does a far better job at isolation. Based on what i read about these so far, i don't get why the status quo is so bad.

What have you been playing and what do you think?

Been playing rive and neon chrome from one of the deals featured here on GoL. Both are good fun.

I don't like using wine, i haven't bought a single windows game in about 6 years now. If you count wine compatibility as "ports" then they might as well not part any games to gnu at all...

Also i don't think referring to certain games as "impossible" therefore bad to mention is not very useful, i think Feral will know better, if they decide to look at this wishlist (or any list) at all.

I would also add Super Mario Maker to my list as well.

Nice, looks like the Codaname: Panzers game i used to play. Will probably buy it on release if it's price isn't set too high.
