Quoting: RafiLinuxThis looks nice, I hope it's available on other platforms besides Steam.

I was thinking it kinda looked like M.U.G.E.N., but with crappier character design.

Big fan of Mugen.

HITMAN - Game of the Year Edition is out, with same-day Linux support

Quoting: BeamboomThis game here should be in every Linux gamers library, for so many reasons.
I’ll buy it when it’s avalaible DRM-free on GOG or Humble.

I don't see that happening anytime soon. Don't think I have ever seen any of these "games as a service" always online games on GOG. Don't see how that could work either, unless they took out the online aspect.

I would be totally OK with an offline DRM-FREE copy!

Playing Doom 3 on Linux in 2017

I am seriously thinking about giving DOOM 3 a shot. Should I get the GOG version and then try this? I am only interested in the SP experience.

Open your wallets, there's some great Linux games on sale right now

I picked up Super Star Path and Costume Quest on itch.io. Super Star Path is already a lunch time game with my co-workers.

The Humble Down Under Bundle is a very good deal for Linux gamers

Quoting: Alm888"Nothing personal, it is just business."
???
Quoting: Alm888What exactly is so "morally unacceptable" in this particular deal? The fact that they do not provide DRM-free or Linux versions for all games in the bundle?

Simply put they lie to the video gaming community for their personal gain.

Quoting: Alm888The games in the bundle are for Linux and DRM-free. Yet, you will not "support" (in the form of purchasing?) them… Well, maybe you just don't like them… But that has nothing to do with IGN or Humble Inc.… Oh, wait!

These games are available elsewhere, If I wanted them I would get them on the platforms I prefer.

Quoting: Alm888So… this is not about personal taste in games but IGN per se.

Correct. I like ScreenCheat and picked it up via GOG awhile back.

Quoting: Alm888I'll try to not forget to inform you on such a development, but no promises! OK? :D

I'm good either way.

Quoting: Alm888That is your right and I am in no position to scold you on that. But, please, try to be aware of the fact that your actions are motivated by personal feelings (about past IGN's actions) and not rational thoughts about current event.

The people in that one issue I cited above, still work there so I don't think it's totally irrational.

Quoting: Alm888P.S. I am also not above this: I will not give any money to "Larian Studios" and most probably will not buy "Divinity: Original Sin" despite its availability on Linux due to their actions (which I took as a personal insult) regarding the release of Linux version.

Not and RPG player, so I don't know what went on with that but sounds like you're doing the right thing.

Quoting: Alm888P.P.S. GOG… Armello… Does it sound any bells??? Like, this story? Yet, despite all of this GOG is totally OK to get DRM-FREE games, unlike despicable "Humble IGN"…

I just read that, they gave people their money back...What's the issue? I would agree if they had F'ed the community and kept the cash but they did not.

Lots of their games do not have the current version. 'Nuclear Throne' is one of them. It's an older version missing all of the updates STEAM has. The IndieBox and Itch.io version is also the same old version from the DRM-FREE release. How much of that is on the dev or platform depends on how transparent their dealings are to us the consumer. My game taste keep in the local MP and SP arena so I have no idea what online gamers are dealing with til I read it here or on places that I visit.

Quoting: Alm888So, it is actually not about DRM but personal hatred and vengeance…

Maybe but how so from your POV? If a company does business in a way that I am morally against and I do not want to support them is this now considered hatred and vengeance?

About your other question, I've been supporting Linux native game releases since the 90's. From UT99 forward, if the game supports Linux and I like the game, then I will probably support it. If the game supports Linux and I like it and it's DRM-FREE then I will definitely support it.

Let me know when IGN comes out and says that they WILL support Linux and DRM-FREE gaming with some clear goals and milestones with some kind of checks/balances in place and I will give them another look.

Til then I will continue to support Linux Gaming as I see fit.

I hear you but I strongly believe that IGN deserves none of my money. While the deal is good, if I wanted those games in a DRM-FREE format I will look for them on itch.io and/or GOG.
