Steam Now Has Official Hardware Pages On Its Store (UPDATED)

By - | Views: 17,044
I was wondering when they would do this! Steam Machines, Steam Link, and the Steam Controller have all gained store pages in a new Hardware section on Steam. This should help sales, a lot.

This was one of the last pieces of the puzzle, and giving the machines some store time will certainly help them sell!

They are all full Steam store pages, complete with the community side to go with it.

Steam Controller: http://store.steampowered.com/app/353370
Steam Link: http://store.steampowered.com/app/353380
Steam Machine List: http://store.steampowered.com/sale/steam_machines (each has their own page linked)
Steam Universe: http://store.steampowered.com/universe/ - NEW

I look forward to the release! Begin adding to your wishlists. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

I looked at the steam machines page... The high amount and crappy price to quality ratio has turned me off a lot. I can only imagine how an uneducated person with no knowledge of computers will think. Personally I already have a gaming rig so I would just get a controller and a steamlink. I think valve made a good move with the steamlink... Now I think they need to make their own steam machine instead of letting other manufacturers make them.

It's way too overpriced to break into the main console market. On the other hand, you have to consider the fact that they will be the only 4K capable consoles on the market.

Quoting: minjIndeed, Syber Steam Machine I seems to make the most sense
I like the look of that one too, saving up to get one. :D

I agree that the prices aren't that bad compared to consoles if you take the prices of games on the different platforms into consideration.
I doubt however that that's an easy point to get across in marketing. "Look, in 3 years it might turn out to be a good deal" isn't exactly an impressive selling point.

Some, like the Syber ones, make sense and look as if someone genuinely put thought and effort into it.

Others make me think they are just some half arsed alibi, mainly to make Steam shut up and leave the vendors alone about the topic.

The ASUS Rog models seem o.k. They look nice and are adequately equipped.
I think, and hope, that what could come of this is that computer stores start offering their own pre-built PCs with steamOS pre-installed, instead of giving people only the option of windows.
Also, a lot of these machines might end up selling to young kids, some of who might like to tinker with their hardware. Look at all the amazing hacks that are available on closed consoles. Imagine the amount of innovation that could come out of an open and fairly easy to modify console.

Is it coming to Pakistan? I am been waiting for it since 2013.
