We have to wait a little while longer to play Divinity: Original Sin folks as the developers have now confirmed Linux will see a release when it exits Early Access.

QuoteFirst of all, we’ll continue to bugfix and update Early Access alongside finalizing the full release. Furthermore, you can expect a Mac version on Steam Early Access and a version of the game for Linux some time after its full release on PC/Mac.

Previously the game was only a maybe for Linux & Mac, but once they where fully-funded they outright confirmed both Linux & Mac, that was quite a surprise to everyone especially as they didn't add either in as a stretch goal.

The game is on Steam's Early Access right now and it isn't cheap, we suggest not buying it until the Linux version lands to avoid dissapointment and to show them what happens when a Linux version is released. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

"a version of the game for Linux some time after its full release"

How vague of them <_<
Sabun Apr 25, 2014
That is a surprise, but as jdub has pointed out above it's still pretty vague. I guess we'll see in time. If they deliver on their Mac port, it's one more step in the direction of Linux support.

I don't really understand not putting out an early access version on Linux; many of the bugs reported by us will no doubt be cross platform and generally we have much more experience in what actually needs to go in to a bug report (rather than just "it doesn't work!!!1012312").

Proper user feedback (including constructive criticism) obviously isn't as high a priority as lots of "dis game iz gud" circle jerk feedback.

Not that I'm suggesting all Windows / Mac users are incompetent. Honestly.

Edit: I've wanted to include the phrase "circle jerk" somewhere at some point for a while now.

Looks amazing! Though, I don't like turn-based things. Maybe I'll give it a shot anyway.

I backed this game only because of promised Linux support, yet another example of "oh, we will get to it". Great people who do listen to their fans but this is the last time I back one of their promised Linux versions, game it's self is over a half a year late (Yes I know there has been many improvments).

The actual announcement is here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/larianstudios/divinity-original-sin/posts/822503
It's probably better to reference it directly in the post rather than simply linking to the top KS page.

No problem with this. Larian specifically said the Linux version will come out later. While I moved to Linux exclusively, I'm still a big of theirs. I'm glad I donated to this kickstarter and I hope to get to use my copy soon.

Where is that? We need to be careful with outside key providers.
