Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition for Linux seems like it will never happen, but it is still on the table and hopefully after the next patch.
The game is a remake of the original Baldur's Gate that was released in 1998. It isn't just a plain remake as it does add in new features, characters and locations and should satisfy the RPG hunger of many Linux gamers.
The Enhanced Edition was released near the end of 2012 with an announcement that it would come to Linux soon after, so we have been waiting ~1.5years so far, but the wait could be over this year. The wait should be worth it too as it is well reviewed and by the time it comes to Linux it should be well polished up.

@JasenC good question. We pushed it behind the major bug fixes of the 1.3 patch. We're trying much harder to ensure quality releases.

BG:EE runs on BG2:EE engine, so I would be surprised if they didn't release both games for linux.

This endeavour will be native, correct? I already own all of Baldur's Gate on GOG so once GOG introduces Linux support later this year, I should be able to play the game. Not natively, of course, since they are old, but still.

If this becomes native and is not tied to Steam I will probably give it a go, since I have never actually played a Bioware title despite them being loved by so many people and actually being based nearby in Edmonton. Got into Linux gaming too late for Neverwinter Nights, so maybe this can be my introduction.

I'm pretty hopeful of it. Trent Oster has mentioned it in the baldursgate forum several times. Both of the EE games work perfectly with wine, but a native version is always preferred.
I pre-bought both of the EE games - I wonder if I will have to purchase Linux versions, or if we will get them as part of the previous purchase?
The windows version is entirely DRM free. If you purchase it from BeamDog, you need to use the DeamDog client to download the game. The game itself is DRM free to run after that, but you still need the client for updates.
