
The newly open-sourced game engine Godot (which we covered more here) received its first major release today! In the middle of the winter game-jam too, even though the release candidates have been out for a week or so.
I can certainly see this shining a nice light on Linux gaming and game development, as it features a fully fledged Linux editor! What I like is that it doesn't use any native "window toolkits", but this is of course at the cost of looks.

It's come a long way since the first build I have (Jan 3rd). Great things in store for 1.1 as well (awesomely smart code-completion, function syntax tooltips, 2D shaders, some drag-n-drop support, new theme which was delayed for some reason, and more).

Hmm... I was thinking to start playing a little bit during the xmas vacations with these gaming engines Leadwerks or Godot but I dont have a clue about programming so Which one you think is easier to learn?

Wolfyrion, if you don't know programming you can try Stencyl Works. Between Godot and Leadwerks I would prefer godot, it's free and openSource... unless you want big 3D projects (BUT I haven's tried those two...). Going to give gotdot a try now.

Is anyone using this yet? Is it like Game Maker in any way / shape / form. I would love a good Game prototyping app.

It's more flexible than that. And open-source (MIT license, you can do virtually anything you want with it) and free... No reason to not try it out.
