Cradle, A Fantastic Looking 3D Adventure Game Shows Linux Progress

By - | Views: 8,492
Cradle (their site is a terrible all-Flash website, urgh!) is a really quite good-looking adventure game coming out, and the developers have teased their Linux testing recently.

The good news is that it is already greenlit to be on Steam, so we can already look forward to it!

From their announcement
QuoteThroughout the last week we were busy preparing the game build to run under Linux system. We made a test run already. The version requires a few small tweaks (certain textures are displayed incorrectly), but overall it works pretty good.

Hello Ubuntu

About the game
Cradle is a science-fiction first-person quest with freedom of movement. The story is built around the relations of the protagonist and a mechanical girl, who by enigmatic circumstances find themselves together in a yurt among the desert Mongolian hills. The player is to restore the lost functions of his companion's mechanical body parts and together reveal the mystery of the neglected entertainment park found not far from the yurt.

You can see a slightly dated video below:

What do you think? It's really nice to see developers be open about it, and actually checking how it runs. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Quoting: GuestLooks good. I hope the room with the yellow cubes is only a small part of the game.

Yellow??? Did you forget to turn flux off?

Edit: After watching the video I now see the yellow cubes. :)

Glad to see this being finally released! Like Xpander, I've been following this game since I saw it on Unigine's showcase page(which still lists release date in 2012), but updates have been few and far between.

So glad they are still going strong. I've been tracking the whole time and it's looking beautiful. This is a day one buy for me. That being said, anyone remember what engine Toren is being made in? I only know we're getting it too.

It was launched today. The system requirements look surprising low.
