Something quite curious has appeared on Amazon today. A remaster of a cult game Indigo Prophecy, or Fahrenheit here in Europe, has been added onto the store. And now for the really good bit: the cover has an Aspyr logo and a very familiar penguin.

Now we haven't received a confirmation from our contacts at Aspyr and Amazon has lied before, but it seems very unlikely that this would be a mistake, especially with that penguin on the cover. And if the remaster is being handled by Aspyr it could be within the realms of possibility. Naturally, we have contacted Aspyr and we will update you on the situation as we get more info.

For those of us that haven't heard of the game before or have heard very little, Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy) is a cinematic interactive action-adventure game where multiple murders happen all over New York and your job is to connect the dots and figure out the murderer as soon as possible. Your only leads are the mysterious ritual patterns that are linked to the murders.

Aspyr has teased on Reddit that they are working on a port that nobody would be able to guess or even expect. This does seem to fit that description. It's worth noting though that the system requirements on the Amazon page only lists Windows 7 and 8 and there is no mention of Linux anywhere except on the cover. While it seems difficult to make such a big mistake, we'd advice not to get your hopes up too high, at least until we can get a confirmation. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

I *loved* this atmospheric adventure-title on windows back in the days, in fact I liked it so much that I was mayor league pissed and felt almost betrayed, when it became clear that the next (similar) production "Heavy Rain", would be a playstation exclusive.

Anyway, if the tux rumor is true this title is a must have/play for everyone!

This game was ( is ) epic. I will buy it if it will have Linux support.
I even have Windows copy on my shelf, but I will play it one ( or more ) times :D

Quoting: Caesim19WOW. I'm very excited.
If this is true, it will be an inst-buy off Gameagent. I love quantic dreams "Heavy Rain" and "Beyond: Two Souls" and thought I'd never be able to play any of their games on linux.
But what makes it more possible, that quantic dream is teasing us with an announcement. On the website
achillingfeeling.com
they have a countdown to their news! And it looks like the cover of the game, posted above...

then you'll love Fahrenheit. both those games just try to achieve what they did with this one. but, in both cases they failed in some manner. like HR being way to confusing to control to actually really enjoy and Beyond failing on the story. F:IP has it all. problem with both those games is they wanted to do more than F:IP and that usually fails when you don't really know what to make better.

Yeah, would be great having this game native on Linux and released without any DRM on GOG!

Hopefully this isn't just for European physical editions. I'm hoping that GOG's version goes Linux as well.

Well, the Amazon boxed version is Steamworks, it is stated in the description that a Steam account is needed to play, so it's definitely not a physical reedition (well, you have the box and the disc, of course, but it's only for installation). Now the question remains if it's a Steam exclusive or if it will beavailable DRM-free on other stores too, like GOG and Humble.

Is this the port that Aspyr were talking about last week?

Thanks, for clearing me up :D
I think, this game will be the first one, I'll buy the first day of release.
Very excited.

I'm surprised to read so many good things about this game. The gameplay is as bad as it possible to be and the story is beyond stupid. That and it totally failed to deliver the story with multiple paths it promised to give.

The story is definitely flawed in the end but for most of the game it keeps you on the edge of your seat and I'm guessing manages to get most people emotionally involved. Games are generally terrible at storytelling so anything that manages to do it well even for only most of the game does tend to be well received.

As for the gameplay, it's basically the classic adventure style updated with quick time events and a fairly smart time-limited conversation system. I like it but then again I also like the good old point and click adventures.
