Invisible, Inc. is the new game from Klei Entertainment (think Don't Starve) that has been in early access for a while without Linux support. Today they released an update with news of our much anticipated Linux support!

See their full post about it here, but we have a snippet:
QuoteThe Invisible Inc team will now begin work on the final leg of our production. There are certain features and polishing work to be done that require more time than the 2 week update cycle will allow. There will not be any more small content updates as the team has begun the big final push. We will still be on the forums and keeping you updated on our progress, so please feel free to leave us comments and feedback.

Some of the content and features we will be working on:

* Building and balancing the entire campaign, including the Final Mission and full story
* Complete voice over for Central, Monst3r, Incognita, and more
* More generation options, including a full Sandbox mode
* A more balanced Endless Mode, that increases in difficulty over time
* Linux support
* Steam Cloud saves
* A new corporation to contend with
* 2 new agents to join the fray

Update: So it's not actually out yet, but they are starting to work on it. As the developer replied with this:
QuoteI hate to be a wet blanket, but the Linux support is not in this update. It will come with the next big one.

The game has already chalked up some good reviews, and the overall rating on Steam is "Very Positive", so that's a good indicator that it's going in the right direction.

Is it safe to buy now (will it count as a Linux sale)?
The game doesn't have the tux logo and in SteamDB the status is: No Linux in OS list.

Thanks :)

It does not start for me.

Looks interesting. Good news is if you buy from their website they say they will offer a DRM free copy to you once the game is finished. I think I'll wait until that's offered for sure before buying.

It seems their wording and a reddit post confused me, the Linux support doesn't seem to be out yet. Article updated to reflect that.

The features listed are what they are working on, not what is in this update, but one reddit user stated a way to get it to work.

Linux was mentioned in the announcement post as something that's coming soon, not what's in the latest update. The game currently doesn't run on Linux. If you don't already own it, you might be best off holding your horses for now.

Good news! I've had this on my "wishlist" since August 18, but (thankfully) I never got around to purchasing it before I decided to try using Linux more or less exclusively.

So I'll pick up this when it becomes ported!

@tesfabpel: It will count as a Linux sale if you buy it in Linux _and_ don't play it on Windows for at least a week.

I bought it already because they have shown with several previous games that they can do a solid Linux version, so their promise was good enough for me.

Quoting: crabel@tesfabpel: It will count as a Linux sale if you buy it in Linux _and_ don't play it on Windows for at least a week.

It depends on what kind of arrangement Klei have with Alternative Games (They're the people who did Frozenbye's original Trine and Shadowgrounds ports - Klei have been using them for most of their ports). Klei definitely have the ability to see Linux purchases regardless. That first week thing seems like it really only comes into play is Alternative Games are getting a commission from each Linux sale (and since you can launch the game on Linux, that's probably going to make things count even if it crashes straight away since Steam registers that it's being played).
