The last GOL Survey results of our Linux & SteamOS user survey for 2015, wow what a year! The next survey will be available on January 1st and run for two weeks as usual.
I don't really have many comments to make on it right now, as there's not really any shocks.

A small dip here, nothing to worry about, as the numbers are still pretty good overall.
I'm going to be honest, I actually thought this number would be higher. Even I have started to use Wine again for some older games. I refuse to lock myself out of old titles I already own and love simply because I am on Linux now.
I will be really shocked if this ever really changes more than it is already.

This one most surprised me. Then I had a think about it, and our audience here mostly build their own, or are happy with their PC. To get this moving we need to expand the reach of the survey really.

A testament to a healthy, diverse set of interfaces competing with eachother. The same can't be said for the distributions category which appears to be Debian/Arch dominated.
Except when you factor in the fact that a number of these DEs are based on GNOME. When you do so, you find that nearly 50% of the DE share consists of GNOME-based environments. When you also consider how non-GNOME based systems like Xfce are nevertheless using Gtk, it becomes clear that the overwhelming majority of people are using Gtk over Qt.

Will past survey data be eventually "open sourced"? It would be cool for us data geeks out there to do some corrolations and other studies with it.

for a long time Debian based distros have been catered to "ease of use" more-so than other distributions. but once you've gotten good experience with Linux some users tend to move to Arch or Gentoo for a more tailored experience and the rolling release is nice as well.
Fedora's only drawback is how it caters to free(dom) software and if you want non-free add-ons such as proprietary drivers you have to use a separate repo, mainly rpmfusion. which is like adding a ppa in Debian/Ubuntu.
Plus there are a lot more Ubuntu based distros than any other distribution. Although there are a number of up and coming distros that use Arch as a base but add their own flare of "ease of use" applications (Manjaro, KaOS and Antergos) or a new base built from the ground up like the Solus Project. Then there is the very easy to use Architect installer for Arch.
In time I think the distributions percentages will move around a lot like the DEs are as these other distributions become more mature.
