Feral Interactive are teasing a new Linux port on their radar

By - | Views: 39,039
Feral Interactive are crazy busy right now, and it seems they have yet another Linux game port up their sleeves.

You can see the new teaser on their radar, copied below. It's in the Very Soon section, so hopefully it won't be long before we find out!

It hasn't been long since they released Medieval II: Total War Collection, so it's really awesome to see more coming so soon. We also have XCOM 2 due next month, my word these guys are busy with another.

Guess away! Exciting! Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

The 'pearl' indicates that it's a text adventure written in perl.

I'd say it's either Zork, or The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, ported to Linux as perl scripts.

It could be something else, though.

The pearl might be a pointer to the creator of perl, Larry Wall.

So it might be a version of Leisure Suit Larry.

... or, Larry Wall's 'Wall' might be supposed to remind us of the 'all warnings' argument to gcc.

'All warnings' could refer to a game with a post-apocalyptic theme.

So it's THE LAST OF US, folks. And this will mark Naughty Dog's transition to Linux exclusivity. You heard it here.

Quoting: ArehandoroI love Feral Interactive. Please be Ether One and not F1 if those are the options.

F1 2015 has had lots of activity over a month according to steamdb ..so i think its F1
and i like it, somethig good for a change after those strategy games i dont enjoy :D

I don't really enjoy strategy, I can count the ones I like with the fingers of one hand and would have fingers left hahaha. Unfortunately, I enjoy Formula 1 even less than strategy so in this case I'm not really excited about it.

Yeah, sigh ANOTHER, we have so many of those, exactly ONE already I think.

To nitpick: the eucledian equation is e^(i*pi*2) = 1, what they have written down is not correct, E has no mathematical meaning, neither does I and uppercase PI means to multiply what is behind it for n times. So what we got is a reference to the eucledian equation, but not quite. The equation is also an equation, it doesn't have variables if we were to assume the correct writing. So assuming that the mathematical notation they used has a double meaning, it would represent both a formula (with E and I as inputs) and a 1. I cannot figure out however what the pearl is doing in there however.

Quoting: rustybroomhandleAlthough, I have spent most of my time playing Euro Truck Sim 2 with it. Also totally transformed the experience, even though the force feedback stuff does not seem to be implemented on Linux.
.
Don't know about a wheel, but (on Euro Truck 2 Sim) there is force feedback on my Xbox 360 controller.

Quoting: KimyrielleGlad to see their order books still being full. I just wish Bethesda would finally notice these guys and let them port something. Anything.
This is never going to happen. Zenimax, their current owner, is so much against Linux they actually managed to stop id software from doing Linux ports!
Hardly. The Linux "ports" from id were done by one guy, and from what I remember he doesn't work there any more.
Yes indeed, it was TTimo doing the ports. He left not that long after id abandoned us.

As a side note though, a single guy handling the Linux port is still a reality for many games out there...

Though, id ports were really great as far as I can remember them.

Google image search shows the pearl picture as spirituality with references to Ireland and Sacred Geometry

Heres the whole pic:

I just wonder, XCOM 2 is meant to be released on February 5, 2016. However it's still in "soon" section on Feral's radar. This port is in "very soon" section. Does it mean it will be released before February 5? I'm asking because in typical situation the answer would be obvious, but I remember Shadow of Mordor, that was flying from one section to the other before the release, so I wonder if someone knows something regarding release of this mysterious (or obvious?) title.
