Sad news Double Fine fans, as Day of the Tentacle Remastered will not be on Linux at launch with no current date shared.

QuoteThere is a Linux version in the works but i'm afraid it won't be ready in time for launch, sorry!

They also tweeted this out:

.... Buy the pc version now, and when Mac and Linux versions are done you'll get access to them too!

I don't encourage anyone to pre-order anything. Also, I do wish they would say Windows and not PC, such an annoying term.

About the game
Dr. Fred’s mutated purple tentacle is about to take over the world, and only you can stop him!

Originally released by LucasArts in 1993 as a sequel to Ron Gilbert’s ground breaking Maniac Mansion, Day of the Tentacle is a mind-bending, time travel, cartoon puzzle adventure game in which three unlikely friends work together to prevent an evil mutated purple tentacle from taking over the world!

Now, over twenty years later, Day of the Tentacle is back in a remastered edition that features all new hand-drawn, high resolution artwork, with remastered audio, music and sound effects (which the original 90s marketing blurb described as ‘zany!’). Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Meh! They get my money when they ship a game that works well on my computer, not before.

Quoting: subAnyone knows if they use some kind of filter to "generate" the
new graphics (similar to what ScummVM supports) and
just manually "polished" it afterwards?

Tim Schafer was on Kotaku's podcast and confirmed that the artwork was completely repainted. The remaster supports widescreen, which also adds more content to each scene. I'm looking forward to it.

I wish they had done that for the remaster of Grim Fandango.

I can wait to get it on bundle and/or when the game is available for linux. I've got the original, there's no rush to buy it.

I thought I was the only one who get super annoyed when I see that.

Also: Double Fine's tweet should have just said "money, money, money, give me your money! You may or may not get an actual game out of us."

Yeah, or: "Despite releasing 13 or so games with plenty of sales we're still desperate for money because we spent it all on tonnes of over-enthusiastic vegan types with nose rings to do our social media. Keep San Francisco edgy by buying our promises - each sale means one item of Urban Outfitters fashionware for our staff."

Name a single instance in which a game was not delivered. (Say "Spacebase DF-9", I frickin' dare ya).

Your comment is based on nothing but irrational hatred.

The Mac version was released today, but a DoubleFine dev says the Linux version will be "much later". :-(
