Last day to submit games to our Linux GOTY awards

By - | Views: 13,590
Update: Submissions are now closed, we will go over the submissions to make sure everything is in check and in 1-2 days voting will be open.

I decided to extend the submission time for our GOTY awards by one day just to give it a bit more exposure to gather a good list.

Link: https://www.gamingonlinux.com/goty.php

Please check the spelling of what you submit, having to constantly edit spelling does make the process take longer. For next year I'm going to link it to the Games Database we are working on, so spelling won't be an issue then.

Also, please do not submit games that were released before 2016*
* Unless it had an update in 2016, as there's a category for that
* Or it's an open source game, or a FOSS project (game engine, emulator etc)

I will close it late tonight and then we will spend a day or two to sort through and hopefully get rid of any duplicates that crept in.

If you spot anything in the wrong category, now is the time to let me know. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Dunno if you already want to sorting out input, but here we go:
I liked Life Is Strange very much. But I don't think episode 1 qualifies as a free game. It's more of a big demo.
(But do get it and play it you didn't do yet!)

Considering it was originally a fully paid game by itself (while being an episode) it is still now free. To me, this counts perfectly.

While I also want to see less Life is Strange in the nominees, I agree with Liam's assessment.

This fits together well... You considered episode 1 a game, played it, it felt unsatisfying (because it's only a small part of the game)... and so you don't like it!

Just joking. Everbody as he (dis)likes!

So to repeat my unanswered question from the announcement post:

Quoting: wintermuteFor episodic games (e.g. Dreamfall Chapters) are we counting the release date of the first episode or the final episode?

The first episode was released October 2014, the final episode was released in June 2016.

Didn't see it sorry. Are they separated or all bundled together?

It's a single purchase, you can't buy the episodes separately. Each new episode was an update.

I'm not terribly invested in this award in any case, but I think it's a bit unfair to bundle Indie titles together with AAA titles. I enjoyed Tomb Raider immensely, but generally I've been spending more time with some Indie games, and it's difficult to compare the experiences.

Then there's the answer ;) "Best update"
