Life is Strange: Before the Storm [Steam], the standalone story adventure set three years before the original is officially heading to Linux! Feral Interactive have today announced that it will arrive sometime this Spring.

Feral Interactive ported the original Life is Strange episodes to Linux, so I’m not surprised they’re teaming up again to bring Before the Storm to Linux. I think they did a very good job of the port before and I certainly enjoyed it a lot. Life is Strange: Before the Storm - Deluxe Edition for Linux will include all three episodes along with the bonus episode, "Farewell".

This standalone prequel isn’t actually made by the originally developer Dontnod, instead the the publisher picked Deck Nine.

“With its tough yet vulnerable protagonist, Life is Strange: Before the Storm is a poignant evocation of teenage life,” said David Stephen, Managing Director of Feral Interactive. “The atmospheric soundtrack, sharp writing and captivating story combine to create an engrossing and moving game, and we very are excited for macOS and Linux players to experience it.”

Feral said that pricing and system requirements will be confirmed closer to release. You can see the official news post over on the Feral Interactive site. They also now have a mini-site set up for it with a few more details.

This is the third confirmed port from Feral Interactive for Linux this year, so we will have: Total War: THRONES OF BRITANNIARise of the Tomb Raider and now this as well!

Will you be grabbing a copy when it releases for Linux? Exciting times!

Will update the article later with any more information once the official press stuff has been sent out to us.

The lack of activity about Linux depots in the SteamDB suggest me that Feral has an internal DRMFREE version of this port...
Not necessarily. It's quite easy to run steam games without steam for development purposes.
Might be Feral trying out a new development/QA process, possibly mandated by their contract with the IP owner, or pretty much anything else really. The information tab for the SteamDB entry does mention the Feral Launcher by the way.

It would definitely be a good thing if Feral branched out to the other stores as well. It's not good to be at the mercy of a single storefront, regardless of who runs it.

Actually, the Feral launcher is listed at the bottom of the information tab, as overlaywindowblacklist
Isn't that what I said? The launcher is mentioned on the information tab, which shows that Feral is doing at least something.

Great! I hope the release is a couple of weeks away considering all the previous activity. I don't even care about a free episode, it's an instabuy anyway!

Which order should I play them in once this one arrives? I have the original & haven't played past deciding whether to save the bully from a paint shower or just let it happen.

I guess the developers expect about everyone who plays the second to have played the first, so that's the order I'd go, too.

Yea, go back and finish the original first. And if you haven't gotten past Victoria on the stairs yet then you haven't seen anything really, so you are in for a good rollercoaster once things starts unfolding :)

Ok then that's what I'll do, thanks both of you. :D
