Overall, I thought it was a brilliant game. The only part that I was a bit iffy about, was how it cuts from the exploration into the battles which did break immersion a little. That's only a minor gripe though! The battle system certainly is interesting though, quite different to most RPG battle mechanics currently in other games so it's well worth taking a look if you find others a bit too samey.

Holy crap we're getting a ton of great RPGs! Don't even have time to play them all...
I'm still hoping we'll get a native build of The Bard's Tale Remastered, but it does work in Proton.
This one looks awesome.

very nice RPG. I played it for 17 hours, then came Pillars of eternity 2, then came some other games before Dead Cells and then Steamplay.. wtf

Yeah, I've gotten to a point where I have so many games I don't know what to play anymore. I think I'm going to try to concentrate on playing BT1. Never got around to beating it when it originally came out, and we should be getting BT4 soon-ish.

Bought this 3 months ago (on a 1 day sale). Haven't got around to trying it yet. Yes, it certainly looks like the sort of game I'd enjoy =P

I'm still hoping we'll get a native build of The Bard's Tale Remastered, but it does work in Proton.
I've been playing GOG version using Wine+dxvk. Developers just pushed a Unity build with OpenGL renderer enabled, so it might work with native Unity player manually added (it came out on Steam beta, so I'm waiting for GOG update).

Looks indeed quite impressive. Too bad that while I definitely like RPGs a lot, I'm not too fond of party-based ones :oWhat's wrong with party based games? Just wondering your opinion on them. I think some of the greatest RPGs ever released were party based.
But, as others wrote already: We do have a hell of a choice nowadays. Something for everyone ;)
You know what's fun (sarcastically)? When you try to get together with friends to play Neverwinter Nights and they try to play it like it's Diablo....

HA HA! yeah, The Bard's Tale.
For those not aware of it, there is the original old school trilogy, then when inXile were fairly new, they came out with The Bard's Tale (which is a top down RPG parody vs the more serious original trilogy (though there definitely were some funny bits in that, like the shortcut for a spell being called NUKE)). The newer Bard's Tale is native for Linux and includes emulation wrappers for the original trilogy that are the Apple IIc(g?) versions.
But there is coming out the Bard's Tale IV. Which also they are releasing (later for Linux? but for Windows right now) The Bard's Tale Trilogy Remastered. It works with Proton at least, but they only have the first one done.

That'd be awesome! Haven't played an inXile game I haven't liked. Considering they're basically what happened to Interplay and Black Isle (at least I think most of them ended up there).
Also, as an extra bonus, I put an "X" on 5 of the signed collector’s boxes that have the team’s signature (look for a photo at the bottom of the update). Anyone who gets one of these special boxes will get all inXile games for FREE for life. Yes, I was thinking of Willy Wonka when I was signing.

What's wrong with ?????-games? Nothing at all, but everyone has preferences and dislikes.
For RPGs I just enjoy more those where I am playing only one role. Too many party members makes it more a strategy/war game. Surely different for multiplayer games, but I play single.
Same people tried playing Baldur's Gate multiplayer the same way; where everyone splits up and tries to kill everything. That doesn't work in the D&D games because you'll get wasted pretty quickly.
Granted I started playing CRPGs back when they were still called CRPGs :P
