The good news, is that it seems Feral is once again officially supporting both NVIDIA and AMD. However, Intel GPUs are not going to be supported at all. The needed specifications, as listed on the Feral Store:

Minimum
CPU: Intel Core i3-4130T 2.9 GHz
RAM: 4GB
HDD: 28GB
GPU: 2GB AMD R9 270 or better, 2GB Nvidia GTX 680 or better

Recommended:
CPU: 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7-4770 3.2 GHz
RAM: 8GB
GPU: 4GB Nvidia GTX 970 or better, 4GB AMD RX 470 or better

AMD GPUs require Mesa driver 18.1.6, Nvidia cards require driver 396.54 or better. No word yet on if it's OpenGL or Vulkan, will update when we know. Update: It's using OpenGL, not Vulkan.

Only one week to go! I very much enjoyed the original and Feral's port ran really quite nicely so I'm very hopeful for another good experience. As a reminder, Feral also have a teaser for another Linux port they haven't yet revealed the name of as well as Total War: WARHAMMER II.

this is the prequel right?? supposedly it can be played before Life is strange 1?? or the story won't make sense

now Feral please, please, port Shadow of War. I know it's been bashed because of the microtransactions but nevertheless it's a great game we need more quality games. Shadow of Mordor probably is the best game we have on Linux.

@chancho_zombie
I played Life Is Strange and I think you may see some spoilers in the prequel.

I would recommend playing the original first, but yes you can if you so desire.

No Linux problem but I'm wondering if such games still run under MacOS after Apple completely stops support for OpenGL? It is already discontinued and only a question of time until OpenGL is completely omitted.

Apple deprecated OpenGL, which doesn't mean that they doesn't support the API on their current platforms. I doubt they will completely remove the API in the short term, there is a lot of software that still uses it.

Quoting: aejsmithNot every game requires stream output.
This one does. Although it should be reasonably simple to come up with a solution specifically for Unity Engine, as it basically only requires derping some data from a vertex shader into a buffer.

Of course I don't know why Feral opted out of supporting Vulkan for this particular game, but they will probably deliver a good port regardless. This doesn't look like the kind of game that absolutely needs Vulkan to shine - I mean, people have been playing it on wined3d before.
So... They implemented the plan b with OpenGL... Thanks Proton for that!..

Without Proton, this game would not be released this year...
No more laziness, Feral!

I don't like your comment very much. For me it reads like you are accusing Feral of being lazy based on very questionable assumptions. May be I had missed the joke in it, then I'm sorry for that.

Remember, they're also completely removing 32-bit support with the version after the coming Mojava. Apple doesn't care about compatibility with third-party software. They proved that time and time again.

I have no doubt that OpenGL will be removed, relatively soon even. Probably not the next macOS release after Mojave, but possibly the one after.

As for the way forward, one possible way is for ANGLE (an OpenGL ES implementation retargeting onto Direct3D) to add a Metal backend.

There's also MoltenGL (from the same people who are doing MoltenVK), but that's currently commercial and proprietary, and I personally haven't heard anything good about it.

Another idea is to go OpenGL -> Vulkan -> MoltenVK (-> Metal).

I haven't heard that anybody has done anything to move into any of these directions yet, though, so take that all with a grain of salt.
