Valve continue updating their popular FPS Counter-Strike: Global Offensive [Steam], with the latest update giving the Linux version some more attention. While the Linux version (at least for me) does perform rather well, more improvements to keep it as smooth as possible are always welcome.

In their latest patch notes, they noted improvements with the new Panorama UI to fix a VRAM leak for OpenGL affecting Linux and also "Multiple performance improvements" for Linux as well.

The MP5-SD they recently added is also now available in official Competitive Matchmaking. Additionally, they also pushed out an update to the FBI character models, which are live on the Nuke, Agency, and Office maps.

For those interested in the full changelog, find it here.

It will be interesting to see how long Valve can keep the train going for CS:GO, there's probably a good few years of life left in it considering it's constantly in the top most played games on Steam. It did have a big dip in the player count starting around March/April, but it looks like it's rebounding now.

Screw that, have they fixed the issue where the game won't download the maps in community servers already?!?

The one where it will always stay at 0%.

Quoting: devnullBold move going with the FBI. CS should have just stuck with Terrorist and Counter-Terrorist otherwise they run a risk of being labeled biased (sick I know). This is something Valve understood going back to September 11, 2001. Put another way, are they going to allow other national police forces? Who decides?

I'm not advocating such stupidity I'm saying at the rate we're going it's inevitable the left will take issue with this too.

+1 graphic quality though, they've done some serious work on the textures and maps.
Uh, they were always FBI for those specific maps weren't they?

I am always on the ropes about buying CS:GO, my friends all played 1.6 and then I did some Source back in the and I liked it, but meeeh, dunno. I have overwatch and insurgency, feels like CS:GO is just too bland.

The FBI was already there LOL, such nonsense from devnull.

@KayKay91 you mean this one from 2014 ? Not likely.

I am an Indian and like most others here, have grown up watching American movies (where it is hard not to feel patriotic. for America. LOL). This is nothing to be offended about.

It's not the only national police force in the game anyway, right?

Quoting: GuestWhy do people always try and force politics into my video games?

I'm not American so I guess I don't understand why updating the FBI models is considered offensive to left-wing politics? Really getting tiring now seeing these political trolls everywhere lol

It is of course not offensive to anyone left wing, to have FBI in a game - but the "alt-right" likes to pretend that left wing people are offended by anything. In practice, as we can see in this thread, it is them who will be offended even at a made up scenario of someone else being offended :P

I'm British, I consider myself to the left, I literally don't care about the "FBI" being represented in CS:GO.

Agreed.

That is just a game. I really can't understand people cares about "representing" in the games , unless it is very agressive and obvious one.

Fun fact:

When BF1 launched , it also had Ottoman forces in it. I literally saw people saying " How can i play this game as English forces , i can't shoot at to my elders " online.

Mind blowing experience.
