Survival game Stranded Deep has an absolutely huge update out now

By - | Views: 13,835

Stranded Deep, the survival game where you're marooned on a desert island after a plane crash just had its first major stable update in some time.

Along with an impressive list of bug fixes, some big new features made it into this release. There's a new intro scene, a new main menu and loading visuals, a female character model with female voice-over, difficulty options when starting a game, stamina, player skills, sprint swimming for moving faster in water, multiple new sharks, multiple new shipwrecks and more. If you've not played for a while, there's a lot to look forward to when jumping into a new game.

I was very impressed with it when I first properly tried it, great to see work on it continuing. The performance is probably what's most surprising about it. A lot of survival games often struggle, but Stranded Deep remains a smooth experience. You can see the full details of what's new in this post.

You can find it on Steam, it's worth checking out.

I haven't bought this game for this simple reason: I know in advance that I will not survive. I will die. I won't be killed by sharks. I will die because I will not go in the water where the sharks can get me.

You made me buy rust, and now you want to make me buy "Stranded Deep". Well, so be it.

It is a strange game and I don't think it compares at all. Building takes a lot of work and resources. To get those, you need to move around to other islands as well. Make something better to sail with because the initial life raft is a disaster. Dive to get loot from underwater wrecks. And deal with hostile wild life. Diving to deeper wrecks creates quite a bit of tension due to sharks and lack of visibility. All in all a different experience.

That sounds amazing! On the wishlist it goes...

I can tell... I simply did not understand that ther are _SEVERAL_ other building menus hidden and did all this with that life raft. It just clicked when I watched some Let's Play.

I swear.. in some cases is the UI just genius. In some other cases… well duh.

Would probably be interested if it wasn't a first person game.
