GOG have a huge 'Harvest Sale' with Serious Sam: TFE free for 48 hours

By - | Views: 17,029

If you need to start your week off with some new games, you should take a look at DRM-free store GOG.com as they have a pretty huge sale going on.

Before getting into that: they also have Serious Sam: The First Encounter free for 48 hours. No direct Linux support on that (they added it proper with the later Fusion engine release) but you can try your luck with the Wine compatibility layer. The other option is the Serious Engine itself, which is actually open source, so you could use the data files with it.

They also setup a few lists to look over including:

Some quick highlights of good games worthy of putting some time into:

There's obviously a lot more, even just filtering for Linux supported titles on GOG there's over 400 discounted right now so you might find what you've been waiting on.

Head over to GOG.com for the full sale.

For Serious Sam: The First Encounter there's also the original Linux installer from icculus.org or an updated installer from the Loki Installers for Linux Gamers project if you don't want to build the engine yourself.

Too bad SS4 isn't releasing with day one Linux support.

Croteam used to be big Linux advocates. The Talos Principle was released on day one for Linux, OS X, and Windows. But now we're 2nd class again with Serious Sam 4.

well... It will be available on Stadia. So technically it will have a Linux version...subsidized by Google.

I hate all those publishers.
If you gonna make a Linux port of your AAA game, do a little more job and release it for generic Linux desktops and not only for Stadia...
uff. this is getting off topic, so I will stop.

Back on topic, maybe GOG give us a surprise during this sale.

ACK on that.
For my personal use, I also add Steam to that list....

Too bad the icculus link is broken (and I can't find it on his site anymore...).
And the liflg one wants the disk :(

The icculus URL had a parenthesis added, this should work: https://icculus.org/betas/ssam/
