Time for another round-up of news for Stadia, the cloud gaming / game streaming service from Google with plenty more games coming along with some out now. There's also a reveal of what you will get in April with Stadia Pro.
For Stadia Pro, the optional monthly subscription that gives you free games and 4K support, here's what you can newly claim and play from April 1st:
- Resident Evil 7 biohazard Gold Edition
- SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated
- Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA
- PIKUNIKU
Additionally today, March 31, is the last day for you to be able to claim SteamWorld Quest, SteamWorld Dig 2, SUPERHOT MIND CONTROL DELETE, F1 2020, and Hotline Miami with Stadia Pro. If you miss them, they're still in the Stadia store as normal.
Stadia also has another game you can now play for free to test the service out with the HITMAN - Free Starter Pack, which includes the HITMAN tutorial mission and the HITMAN 2 Nightcall mission, including all challenges. On top of that HITMAN 3 location Dubai is free until April 5 to try.

Never tried it but thinking about it, got an usb xbox one controller..that might work.
On Solus Os but its played in Chrome so shouldnt matter

And so far I'm having a great time. Using Chromium (for better OBS capture, as Chrome somehow doesn't get captured) and I'm playing games on Stadia on a regular basis. I'm lucky to have a decent connection, so the Stadia+ network monitor states mostly a latency of ~4ms (sometime even less, with a jitter buffer of ~28ms). So controls feel pretty snappy to me.
I've completed Metro Exodus on Stadia, and recently started a new play through of Everspace. I got both games to claim without additional costs via the Pro subscription.
The only things I bought on Stadia so far are the Everspace Encounters Expansion DLC as well as Cyberpunk 2077 (with the Google Chromecast bundle).
I was pretty surprised to see that e.g. Metro Exodus was using DXVK in the credits. Also that the Stadia edition of Everspace is using Vulkan directly (so it's not the same native Linux version as on Steam/GoG which is using OpenGL).
From my perspective I can totally recommend Stadia, especially if you are a Linux gamer and want to play games that don't have a native version and don't work with Proton or use EAC (e.g. Dead by Daylight, Destiny 2, etc.). But it depends on if your device can decode the stream properly (most modern devices can do that easily) and it depends on your Internet connection. But you can test Stadia for free for one month, so it might be worth a try.
PS: I'm also pretty surprised how well GeForce Now works ;) But many games aren't available there or got removed by the publisher. Which I don't understand, as you have to buy the game yourself anyways, it's just you're not installing it locally, but running it on the nVidia servers ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
GeForce Now would've been the perfect alternative to play EAC games.

Only thing is i cant get my cabled xbox one controller to work so Stadia kiknda sucks atm :)
Tried installing sc controller but it doesnt seem to wanna work at all.
