It's been some time since we reached out to the community, so here's a reminder: we are completely funded by readers and we need your support.

We love what we do here, and we hope to continue doing it for a great many years to come. The industry is always changing, and Linux gaming especially has been through some evolutions over the past few years. We hope to always be reporting at the front of it and we can continue doing so with your help! We don't aim to be the first to report on things, we're not wanting a numbers game - we just try to make nice regular content for you to read, that perhaps you won't find elsewhere.

Unlike many sites, we don’t have any adverts. Not one single advert and we wish to remain that way, giving you a clean and clear website.

If you can donate or regularly support us, here's where you can do so: Firstly, if you wish to get specific reward tiers and access to special things you can do so on Patreon.

All other donations, without any special rewards can be done by:

You can also buy games using our affiliate/partner links:

You can find all the links to support us on a our dedicated page any time.

As always, our inbox is open if you wish to know anything or you wish us to work on a feature to improve the site. Always happy to hear from readers and game developers. Check out our contact page on how to reach us.

Thank you for continuing to read GamingOnLinux!

Quoting: brokkrI've been meaning to look into LiberaPay for a while anyway. Seems like a good time to get on that now. Liam, you mention the stability of Patreon but isn't LiberaPay just as stable?
Not really. Liberapay just pays in a lump sum for each donation, even though everything still mentions weekly and so on. Whereas Patreon is a nice sum every month, that's what gives us the stability - as we know roughly what we will get each month with Patreon.

Quoting: brokkrI quit Patreon all those years back after the small donations 'scandal'. Can I ask: Is it dumb to still be sore about that? I felt like they never acknowledged _what_ actually was bad about what they did. Instead they just reversed course and a month later tried to joke about it, like 'oopsie haha!'
Patreon has taken heat a few times, and rightfully so, but thankfully most of the time they've rethought their decisions. They still offer the best service to small creators.

Yeah, I can see that. I hope at least the charges are up front because LP confused me a bit saying "Next payment is in a year". I'm guessing "next" here means "after the one that just went through that we just did".

Anyway, thanks for getting me to finally put my money where my mouth is

Quoting: ArehandoroYou can still see the account ID from the donation in liberapay, isn't it? Wouldn't be possible to map the account ID, if a user wants, to the user in GOL? If the user does not have the real name in GOL or LiberaPay the donation would still be anonymous.

There must be a way I reckon. I donate, without PayPal, via LiberaPay to Codeberg and they use that payment for my membership.

I read their 2021 new years status blog post and the one change they hope to ship this year is the option to donate un-anonymously.
