Terraria to get Steam Deck optimizations soon

By - | Views: 26,224

Terraria, the side-scrolling platformer survival game from Re-Logic is getting ready for the upcoming Steam Deck launch and it sounds like we can expect a good experience from it. A game that is massively popular, with 48,670 playing it right now on Steam!

It already has native Linux support and it seems they're going to do some tweaks to get it just right on the Steam Deck. Writing in their latest Terraria State of the Game here's what they said:

Funny you should ask! Steam Deck optimizations are nearly complete - in fact, we are likely looking to push those live soon to be ready well in advance of Steam Deck launch in late February. Unless you are playing on Steam Deck, you will not see much difference in this build, outside of a handful of bug fixes, etc. Our team is beyond excited for this new platform, and we have had a ton of fun messing around to try and get things feeling and running "just right" in time for launch. As for what else we have going on - a lot of experimentation continues around the future. After all, we need to be sure that our labors are worthy of your love moving forward, right?

Additionally, work continues on tModLoader which is the open-source, community-driven modification platform for Terraria to improve support for the latest major version of the game.

You can buy Terraria on Humble Store, GOG and Steam.

I wonder (and hope) if those who cared for Linux the last years have sort of a harvest now with Steam Deck.
