NVIDIA are teasing something, likely their RTX 40 series GPU (updated)

By - | Views: 15,111

Seems we're due the next-gen lot of GPUs from NVIDIA soon, as they've begun their teaser campaign for something big.

Posted on Twitter from the official NVIDIA GeForce account was a brief 9 second video, with a simple message of "#ProjectBeyond". It obviously doesn't take a computer scientist to work out what's coming but it's good to know if you're after a new NVIDIA GPU that you might want to now hold off to see what the specifications and pricing are on the imminent RTX 40 series.

When to expect it? Well, it won't be long at all.

The GTC conference takes place between September 19-22, 2022 and NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang mentioned during their recent Q2 2023 earnings call "I look forward to telling you more about it at GTC next month" so it's not exactly hard to imagine the initial announcement happening at GTC — so mark those calendars.

It won't be a full launch event of course, we're likely to only get a small slice of info on the next generation.

Update: another teaser went up that seems to indicate something happening on September 20th.

Unlikely that Nvidia will announce the 40 series. Two reasons: 1) Jensen Huang said in the investor meeting in August that the 40 series will come next year. 2) Nvidia usually doesn't announce Gaming hardware on the GTC, and they also have an AI Page online for the GTC-

Is there any progress in implementing reclocking in Nouveau using the new opened Nvidia kernel module?

Your news seems to correlate with a recent article I read on GPU mag where the only possible release this holiday would be an RTX-4090.

This is somewhat unexpected for me and has thrown a huge wrench into my upgrade plans. I have a 1660ti and have been trying to find the right card to deliver 1440p/144Hz at decent settings at the best power/performance/price. I'm not sure a 3060ti can do it, although it shines on power consumption. The 3070ti is a lot closer and the RX-6800XT would certainly do the best job of the there but is the most expensive and power hungry. I was hoping 40xx, Navi 32, and Navi 33 would offer some alternatives for thought. Well, now it seems I'm back to square one.

Not otherwise disagreeing on initial statement.
But can't help but wonder if Nvidia is lying to stake holders, fully expecting leaks from stake holders, and consequence of leaks, that people will start buying new stuff before next year and drop bomb around Xmass time, here is 4*** seria! And that way double dip into sales.
And share holders will love the move and forget and forgive.

Looks like some kind of creepy style smart home device.

Too little too late for them to keep me as a customer. My new RX 6600 works fantastically!

I just wish corectrl wouldn't change the fan speed of my case fans as well as the GPU ones. Also, If I let it manage performance, my framerate somehow takes a nosedive despite choosing the high performance profile. But all I really wanted was fan control anyway, so that's no big deal. The fans weren't coming on until 50 degrees Celsius by default; I'd rather have the GPU cooler than that. A little noise doesn't bother me.
