Xbox Game Studios talk more of their titles on Steam Deck

By - | Views: 35,725

For the third time, Xbox Game Studios have talked up about their games on the Steam Deck and what compatibility to expect for it.

It's nice to see, especially for people who aren't constantly following Steam Deck compatibility news for publishers to do their own little round-up like this. The Steam Winter Sale is ongoing too, so perhaps you'll see something you might like to grab during the sale.

Here's what they listed along with the current discounts:

Deck Verified

Deck Playable

Something I will point out though, that other news sites seem to get confused on: this is not Xbox Game Studios noting any kind of official support for Steam Deck. The compatibility reports are run by Valve, and most developers don't actually make any changes for Steam Deck with the majority of games running through the Proton compatibility layer.

Want to get Xbox Cloud Gaming on Steam Deck? Here's how to do it.

Isn't there a Proton made by Valve that was specifically for EAC games? Just called "Proton EasyAntiCheat Runtime".
It's not "a Proton", it's a runtime to hook in with older EAC. Games need to be updated to have EAC enabled for Linux but for some games there's other problems it seems.

It's interesting that they mentioned New Super Lucky's Tale, since the developer, Playful Corp., self-published it on all platforms except for the Xbox line. Still, it's a superb game and absolutely deserves to be highlighted.

Definitely having a wonderful schadenfreude from Microsoft developing for a partly FOSS Linux handheld similar to the one people begged for back when the Zune HD was popular. Anyone remember rumors of Microsoft’s Project Origami as a portable Xbox?

Maybe it’s pseudo-speculative schadenfreude but let me have this!

If you have time, I can't recommend Pentiment enough. What a beautifully done game, its narrative display, historical accuracy, as well as plot and gameplay, are in my top 3 games this year for sure.
