Taking the rail shooter goodness inspired by Star Fox, making it a bit more rogue-lite and blending in the Vampire Survivors styled gems to pick up and choose a random power-up, Whisker Squadron: Survivor is ace. Note: key provided for me.

It's just entered Early Access on Steam and I've been having a lot of fun with this one. Developed by Flippfly, the same team that made Race the Sun. Giving you some seriously wild runs each lasting around 30 minutes, you'll face off against an onslaught of all sorts of craziness. At times the screen can be quite literally filled full of lasers trying to cut your ship in half.

While it does have Native Linux support and it is Steam Deck Verified, testing on both my desktop (Kubuntu) and Steam Deck - neither had any gamepad input at all. Swapping over to Proton Experimental made gamepad input work though. Odd, I've reported this to the developer.

It's a huge amount of fun but I'm definitely looking forward to them expanding the content on it. Still gives me that brain-itch of needing another run though.

Have a look at my little Steam Deck video on it below:

Hmmm... As a backer I've had access to the game since mid-June, never saw that with the native build, neither on desktop (Arch Linux) nor Steam Deck, both on Steam beta. Gamepad controls works fine, on desktop with Sony DualShock 4 wired or Xbox One Controller wireless . I didn't play much though (like 5-6 times), so maybe it was corrected since .

No problems with the native Linux version and a gamepad here. Using Arch Linux and a Logitech Gamepad F310.

Super weird. Especially considering my Steam Deck and desktop are entirely different combos but both have the issue with the Native build but not Proton.
