Probably the absolute weirdest deck-builder I've ever played, COMBOLITE is all about repeatedly hitting a rock to score points and activate special combos to score even more points.

You build up a deck of various different weapons and items, all of which have different attack powers and bonuses and attack in a specific direction. The key is in the positioning of all the items in your deck, as some will activate their bonuses based on what weapon or item came before. Add to that special powers you get that only activate when a sequence of attacks from specific positions are done in a row. It's thoroughly weird and unique but I love the idea.

Much like other games that have you go for points including Balatro, Ballionaire, Nubby's Number Factory and LOOTPLOT - you can really do some ridiculous stuff in it where you can get a truly insane amount of points in a single run. The developer said they've seen a player end up doing "13 BILLION damage in a single turn" and they're actively encouraging you to break the game.

The rock itself just floats in the middle of screen but it has physics, and so the attack directions have various other important features since you'll be hitting it all over the place. For example, certain abilities you have acquired during a run might only activate if the rock hits the ground.

There's a lot of things to constantly think about that you're trying to balance here across all the buffs and abilities that keeps it really engaging.

COMBOLITE is available now with Native Linux support.
