ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN arrives today by FromSoftware and thankfully it will work on Linux, SteamOS / Steam Deck even with the anti-cheat.

The game uses Easy Anti-Cheat and additionally also has GuardIT DRM and seems neither are causing any problems. It's now noted on our anti-cheat page so keep an eye on it for any changes. Our friends at SteamDeckHQ did an overview of it directly on Steam Deck. Really great to see such a big release working on Linux platforms.

Additionally, the developer has put up new trailers. One of which brings us back to the days of AMV's being super popular, with Evanescence:

Are you going to be buying it? I don't play enough co-op games to make this one actually worth my time, so it's one I'm personally going to be skipping over. Also, I was never particularly fussed about ELDEN RING myself. Great design, but the punishing side of it just wasn't for me.

From the reviews I saw the game isn't for me as it doesn't have much from Elden Ring other than the world design. But otherwise it's 40 minutes of rushing to boss and then dying at the boss. Rince and repeat.

I really liked Elden Ring itself, but this doesn't look like my cup of tea.

I love Elden Ring and FromSoft games dearly, but I will wait a while on this one. With them being bought up by Sony I'm skeptical that the anti-cheat will continue to work long-term. Maybe I'll grab it on sale next year if the anti-cheat is still allowing Linux.
