GSC Game World have just announced S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Legends of the Zone Trilogy Enhanced Edition that will launch on May 20th with enhanced versions of Shadow of Chornobyl (2007), Clear Sky (2008), and Call of Prypiat (2009). They will be coming with various upgrades and Steam Deck support too.

It appears they have tweaked the naming to Chornobyl and Prypiat (the originals were Chernobyl and Pripyat).

Upgrades for all platforms:

  • Enhanced lighting with godrays, screen space reflections, and global illumination for a more immersive atmosphere.
  • Upscaled textures and detailed 3D models for NPCs, weapons, and environments.
  • Advanced shaders for water and wetness effects, paired with upgraded skyboxes for a more dynamic world.
  • 4K pre-rendered cinematics for dramatic storytelling and improved weapon FOV for better combat visibility.

And specifically for the PC release:

  • Steam Deck Optimized: Play the trilogy on the go with full Steam Deck compatibility.
  • Steam Workshop Integration: Access a vast library of user-generated mods.
  • Cloud Saves: Seamless progress backup across devices.
  • Gamepad Support: Full controller compatibility for a console-like experience on PC.

The press release noted that if you already have the originals on PC you will get the Enhanced Editions free, and the originals are included for anyone who purchases the Enhanced Editions. It will be available as a Trilogy Bundle for $39.99 or individually at $19.99 each.

In the official FAQ the developer noted there's no multiplayer with them "designed specifically around providing a dedicated Single-player experience".

Judging by not being compatible with the older games saves nor mods, I would think those are on a new engine.

Now comes the question: are they as bugged as the originals? Because those are notorious for the amount of bugs they have.

I'll stick with the original modded ones. My favorite is the Lost Alpha version.
