We're getting totally spoiled with unique deck-builders lately like Moonsigil Atlas that I really can't wait for. And now Devolver Digital announced they're publishing Shroom and Gloom with a demo up now and it's glorious.
What is it? A moody first-person, roguelike double-deckbuilder. Yes, double, you have two entirely different decks in this one. The style of it is the real draw though, it looks incredible in motion. There's a combat deck which obviously is used during fights, and then also a explore deck with special cards to help you get around the dungeons.
Part of what makes it unique are the enemies as they're also food. Numerous cards have special additions on them, which can turn dead fungi enemies into food cards. You can also then get a pot card for your exploration, and turn them all into a soup too. The shop system plays into this food system too, with new cards from the shopkeeper costing food, that you'll place into a bowl for them from your food cards.
I've just thoroughly enjoyed exploring the various doors in the dungeon for the atmosphere, it's really great.
I've run through the demo which worked great on Linux with Proton 10 Beta and it is yet another game that I'm going to have to somehow fit into my wishlist, because it deserves to be there.
