I'm certain plenty of readers will remember the Flash classics Warfare 1917 and Warfare 1944! They're back, better than ever and expanded with the Warfare Legacy Collection now available. There's even full Native Linux support with the release.

You'll get to rally British and German troops to fight through the trenches of France in Warfare 1917. Choose between the U.S. forces or the German Wehrmacht in a strategic tug of war in Warfare 1944. There's a brand new expansion that was added for this release too with The Battle of the Bulge. Nice bit of gaming history here, even if you didn't play the originals these are worth blasting through to experience the strategic tug of war.

Unlike other real time strategy games here's it's not about building up a base, or running across a top-down map to capture points. It's a side-scrolling tug of war, where you need to keep gaining ground to complete each campaign as you wear down the enemy and take advantage. The key here is in the individual units abilities, along with the special support abilities you get to throw at the other side.

The game doesn't exactly give you an intro, or really explain properly what you have to do, but thankfully it's all pretty simple. It's all about watching the different lanes your troops run through. You'll be constantly reinforcing by sending in new squads across each individual lane as you build up resources. Overall, it's still simplistic, but worth jumping into if you like a few hours of action. It's fast and quite brutal.

"After starting the Warfare series in 2008, it feels good to revisit where it all started, and breathe new life into a project nearly 17 years after its initial release" said Chris Condon at Con Artist Games. "I can’t wait to see everyone storm the battlefields during next month’s launch."

Warfare Legacy Collection | Release Date: 28th April 2025
