Galactic Glitch is a twin-stick roguelite shooter where you get to catch and throw rockets, rocks and enemies at other enemies - and it's damn good. Note: key provided by their PR team.

With some incredibly satisfying combat, this is one you need to stick on your list to grab. The battles all take place in small contained arena bubbles, with the game setup being like a space dungeon crawler with some mechanics that aren't too far from the feeling of Dead Cells except it's twin-stick space shooter.

You zip from arena to arena, taking down all the enemies in it and then zip to the next one. With the layout being like a dungeon crawler, rooms are connected in different paths, which you can teleport back to at any time, so the exploring is nice and easy too. Some areas contain upgrades, some have big boss battles or a shop and more. There's a huge amount of variety on offer here that will keep you satisfied for hours.

I can't even begin to explain how fun it is catching an enemy rocket, to throw it back at them, to then zip around to catch a floating rock and throwing that at them too. With all the different enemy types and upgrades you can use to build up your ship during a run, there's so much to like about it. I'm especially a fan of the ability you can get that makes enemies more vulnerable to other types of attacks when you throw a rock at them, makes it all the more fun to do so.

Quite challenging too. The different enemy types you face work well together with some of them making a run at you, others might have a power-attack that needs a small charge up giving you chance to dodge and hit from behind, while others use large area attacks — it's all designed to keep you moving, to make the most of all your abilities. And to ensure you use the floating rocks and other debris to your advantage to block shots, or throw at enemies.

With it being physics-based, I love how enemies can blow each other up too, if you let them. I think my favourite example is one enemy that creates a zone of danger in front of them that's like a space garbage disposal, with two solid lasers that crush from each side of the zone. If you get a few enemies to follow you, then dodge out of the zone, they all get crushed.

At the start, it might feel like your average space shooter, but once you get further in, the game keeps expanding. It really does feel like Dead Cells with the layout of going through sections.

There's some nice meta-progression too. As you go through a run, you collect blueprints to have more different types of abilities and weapons in later runs you can unlock. Along with different weapons you can start with to unlock as you go through, each with their unique own main attack and special power-attack. On top of that there's also an upgrades system to add even more buffs and additions.

You also get to unlock different types of ships to battle with, each with a different design along with their own strengths and weaknesses.

My one main issue though, is that overall I did find the game a bit easy. It's really fun, but I do wish there was a bit more of a challenge added to it. As it didn't take all that long to blast through. The bosses, while really interesting to fight, were all also mostly reasonable easy to fight. If they added in some more difficulty options to spice things up a notch that would be good.

Apart from many parts being a bit too easy it's absolutely brilliant. Love going for a run it and a full recommendation from me. One of the best twin-stick space shooters I've played in a while.

Played on Desktop Linux with the latest Proton 9.0-4 paired up with my 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Wireless controller, it has been a flawless experience.
