Civilization VII version 1.2.2 has now rolled out after a delay, bringing with it some advanced features and modding support with the Steam Workshop.
Hopefully this update might actually begin to turn things around, with it still having an overall Mixed rating and a Mostly Negative recent rating from Steam players. Only time will tell though.
Some of the big new features included:
- Large and Huge Maps.
- Steam Workshop and initial Modding SDK.
- New Advanced Game Options.
- New Bonuses for Religion, City-States, and Towns.
- AI improvements.
- UI improvements.
- Controller / Gamepad improvements and updated sound effects for controller interactions.
- Various new Discovery events.
- Newly added English Narrator voiceover lines on the loading screen (other languages coming).
- Added new option to pet the Scout dog.
It's a pretty big update and it includes various changes and additions that were requested by players.

It's an impressive list of changes. In the official patch notes, items with a star next to them denote changes based on player feedback, so the developers are definitely listening.

Despite this update, the game remains rubbish, these new features are of no interest...
We want the gameplay of version 5 and earlier.
Civilization VII is not fun to play. It's a boring, poorly developed and incomplete game.
