Halo multiplayer inside Half-Life? Why not. That's exactly what Halo: GoldSource does and the mod is out now.
We've seen modders do all sorts of crazy things, so this is not really surprising to see two much loved games get combined together. Their trailer below is a bit jittery on the camera, they said this was due to an encoding issue but it's not present in the game (it was very smooth for me).

Since their last release in September 2024 here's what they said is new in the 1.0 mod release:
- Added native Linux support - in 2021 we announced that all of our future projects will support Linux as well as Windows, and ultimately, this applies to Halo GS.
- Enabled basic controller support - as well as the previous point, this will ultimately benefit Steam Deck players. At its core Halo was meant to be played on a controller and we're happy to carry that over to its GoldSource interpretation.
- Added proper Shield Regeneration - gone is the old method of your health slowly restoring, as the shield from Halo has finally been properly added to the game.
- Modern viewbobbing - a less intrusive way of mimicking real movement.
- HD sound design - in the previous build, there was some issues that caused certain sounds to play in an abysmally low quality; this has been remedied.
- Certain weapon viewmodels no longer clip through the camera - we can imagine some people found this irritating.
- Fixed a bug that was present in Beta 2 where the menu would crash the game when running in a high resolution, such as 4K UHD.
- Removed forced-music - certain maps would have music the player could not turn off, and in our internal tests, this proved to be distracting; so it has all been removed. Optional Adaptive Music will be reworked in a future update.

Ah, memories.
To install it all you need to do is download it from the Mod DB page, and put the "HaloGS" folder into the folder where Half-Life is installed (you need to own Half-Life). Then restart Steam, and Halo: GoldSource will then show up in your Steam Library.
With the release out now, they're going to continue working on it but now they have their stable base out in the wild for everyone to play with. They said they have "huge plans for this project beyond maps and weapons" that they wish to keep working on whenever they can. A hope they have is to put out a major update every few months.
