The Heroic Games Launcher has a bug-fix released out with v.2.17.1 bringing some essential fixes, like games not launching.

A change to the way the launcher updated DXVK (Direct3D to Vulkan translator) was included in a previous release, which unfortunately caused a bunch of issues with launching games on Linux systems (like SteamOS / Steam Deck) due to it hitting GitHub's rate-limit and blocking it. This has been reverted since it was problematic, so now all games should launch properly again.

On top of that Proton is now listed first in the Wine list (since that's what most people will be using), and the newer game pages introduced in the big v2.17 release have an enhanced responsive design.

All the changes are below:

  • [Feat] Return Proton first in the Wine version list by @CommandMC in #4550
  • [FEAT - macOS] Add Rosetta AVX Setting by @flavioislima in #4557
  • [macOS] Put the macOS icon in a rounded rectangle by @maksalees in #4319

  • [UX] Hide DXVK-NVAPI option on the SteamDeck by @arielj in #4594

  • [FEAT] Enhance responsive design for game page by @flavioislima in #4578
  • [FIX] Do not use wine path for rockstar fix on windows by @arielj in #4596

due to it hitting GitHub's rate-limit and blocking it.

I may have mentioned before how heroic's tendency to go out and connect to stuff online willy-nilly, without a simple switch to disable it, was starting to bug me.

Wasn't quite expecting this sort of problem, though.
